Cisco AP's are different to routers.... there is a folder created in the root of the flash folder and then sub folders under here.... there are the .bin files and .img files under the named folder and then the contents of the html folder is copied completely under here... All very confusing but the sub folders etc make it…

NOTE - ONLY USE NET-SNMP 5.09 AS NO OTHER VERSION WILL WORK!!!! Also you will need to disable the Sun snmp tools otherwise you will need to assign different port…

I found that these devices support basic snmp so you can get basic information in some cases... Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

I went from 7.5 to 7.7 without uninstalling first and the upgrade was flawless..... Make sure you have a full server backup first before starting.. Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

Hello Don et al I have posted this problem before and also raised a ticket with support.... however noone seems to be interested in addressing this issue.. If you take a straight Win2k or 2k3 box and monitor it in Orion you can see memory usage perfectly.. however if you install Lotus Notes v6 or greater the monitoring…

not 100% sure about this myself as I am just starting out..... however for my Sun boxes I had to scrap the built in snmp and use net-snmp instead... there is a version availble for Linux also I this would be your best bet... http://www.net-snmp.net Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

I am running 7.5 and am going to upgrade to 7.7.. dumb question.. is this a straight install over the top or do I need to unstall the 7.5 system and leave the SQL database in place???.. I know it sounds dumb but the admin guide says uninstall the app only v6 or prior..... I am guessing that with 7.5 the straight over the…

if you use a util that is agent based (ie Openview) they quote a 2-5% overhead required by the application. I have a variety of NT, Win2k, Solaris and Cisco network devices... they display no signs of being pressured by the polling and SNMP interogation.... obviously there will be some impact at some point but the polling…

if you locate the relevant resourse that houses this information you can modify it using Notepad... you can simply remove the fields that you do not want to see (you can also add fields if you want to also).. I am not at work at the moment so can't remember the resource file in question.. however email and I will check…

the standard reports are what you are looking at I guess... you will need to write a new report or just copy, paste and modify an existing report to give the time window that you require. I simply goto the Solarwinds reports folder via NT explorer and create a new copy of the monthly uptime report, then I use the report…

whatever happened to the admin package?.. will it ever be production??.. would be nice to make core changes to Orion without having to access via terminal server session.... [:I] Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

I had this problem when migrating from my test server to my prod server.... the management tool allowed me tool delete the extra polling engine and then it just reappeared next time around.. was very upsetting.... this was the fix i used in the end www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp Have more fun than you had yesterday…

weird thing is that I have drilled into the mib table for the servers in question using a MIB Walker tool and can find the memory values and they seem to be right.... Does anyone know what mib tree and id Solarwinds uses in Win2k as I am testing the HP Proliant specific ones...... I guess they are generic and these values…

anyone found a resolution to the domino on win2k issues with memory reporting???.... if Don is around do you have any comments?? [8)] The win2k servers running this app are the only one that I cannot get proper stats on at the moment...... Note: created copy of one of the units in lab with dif name... same issue.. removed…

or you are running and antivirus tool like McAfee 8 which by default blocks all outbound traffic on tcp port 25 (smtp)... If this is the case you will have to uncheck this box to allow mail to be sent to the target server. Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

Well I'll be jiggered... thishas been bugging me for ages... I have loads of win2k servers all SP4 which are perfect in Solarwinds.. except for... you got it.. the two systems running Domino (Lotus Notes) v6.x.... these report CPU and disk perfectly but the RAM is reported at 250% all the time.... Solarwinds if this really…

have you setup the tftp server to allow it to send traffic??.. by default it will be set to 'receive only' You do this under file/config/security .. I just set mine to send and receive as I have no special requirements... Good luck Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...

The bad with is that Orion currently has no custom MIB capability so you will not be able to monitor data like this through this application..... you will need a network enabled gun tooting snmp supporting aircon unit to do this (big bucks).. however for about £300 ($500) you can get a dedicated snmp module with a…

this is also a bug in win2k... I have loads of servers all patched up to SP4 (this is required for correct reporting of mem/cpu)..... however 2 servers in particular even with SP4 report 200%+ mem usage... and they have 3gig each on an identical build.. I can only think that a MS patch was applied in the worng order and…

you could change your monitoring tactics to set an object down only after a cirtain number of packets are dropped instead of just the first packet....... It is in the preferences for the application and is global so it may or may not meet your needs [:D] Martin J. Hamilton... lost in a sea of snmp...
