UDT can scale to about 150,000 ports by itself. The main reason most customers need to use the additional poller is because they are using one for their NPM deployment. The UDT additional poller is part of the Orion Additional Poller. This means if you already own the additional poller, the UDT additional poller is…

We identified some issues with this scenario in the original beta and fixed them. However, we found a few more after we released the product. Those should be fixed in the upcoming service release.

rao000 You can enable duplicate subnets (Settings -> IPAM Settings -> System Settings -> Check 'Enable Duplicate Subnet'). This will allow you to create the same subnet for different groups. You will only be able to scan from the main server so you won't get status updates, but you can still manage the addresses. Mav

We are aware of several performance issues related to groups and dependencies. We are working on fixing these. For customers with larger groups and dependenceis, we are very interested in gathering detailed data to better understand where the problems are so we can continue to address these. I will contact the people on…

I just sent both you links for the RC where this is fixed. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems (or if everything works as expected ). Mav
-
This is something we are currently working on, but I cannot commit to a delivery date. I will make sure you are both included on the RC as soon as it is available. Thanks!

ecklerwr1, I just checked this on my system and it worked as expected (unchecked record for the Volume events you mentioned). I closed DB Manager and opened it again to confirm the changes were saved. Worse case you could use SQL Management Studio to make the change, but I'm not having a problem changing it with the DB…

Larry, have you tried changing the transient interval? An IP will go transient when it doesn't appear in a poll before going back to available. You can change the transient interval globally or per subnets (specific number of days).

On the screenshot that hjarriell posted, there is gold ribbon with a link to "Manage IP SLA Nodes". It's difficult to tell but this is a link. When you click this, you can then select a node and modify the credentials.

Mike, Regarding you request about the AS assignment, what is wrong with adding a custom property to a subnet? Is there something more you need / want? Once the data is there, what would you want to do with it? I am trying to fully understand you use case. Mav

Did you define any trigger actions? I suggest adding the "Log the Alert to the NetPerfMon Event Log" trigger. Then, go back to the web console and click Message Center under the Home menu. You should see an event log for this there. Also, this will alert if the number of Used, Reserved, or Available addresses changes, not…

There was a recent question as to Java versions we use, specifically regarding this statement: "Our current JRE version is JRE 6u26 on windows, where the current version of 6 is 6u32 (we are not using Java 7 because we like to fully bake our agents to make sure they are rock solid, and Java 7 is a little fresh)." Obviously…

jswan, This is a very intriguing use case that we have discussed internally before (leveraging IP SLA Manager to generate synthetic traffic and see the delay impacts at the network layer and correlating that with flow data to better understand what is impacting the connectivity). For me, I think you need to consider the…

Unfortunately I cannot provide a timeline and we do not currently have a patch planned for this. If we create one, I will certainly let you know. Sorry I can't be more helpful for now :-(

RandyBrown, This was fixed in UDT 1.0.1 which was released in the summer. You can check the version you are using by looking at the footer of the website. You should see something like this at the very bottom of the website. SolarWinds Orion Core 2011.1.1, IPAM 2.0.1, NPM 10.1.3, NTA 3.8.0, UDT 1.0.1, IVIM 1.1.2 1995-2011…

There was a previous thread about this with steps to accomplish this task.

Joe, Can you please provide a little more information about your environment? For example: * What kind of switches are you using? * Are you spanning a layer 2 domain across all of these switches? * Do other devices appear everywhere or just your iphone? * Do you have APs connected to each of these switches and walk around…

Now that 1.7 is out, I can provide a little more information about what we are looking at next. Please look at the "What we are working on" thread I just posted. As everyone should know, this is a list of what will be in the next release but are the items we are actively working on and looking into. Enjoy!

This is definitely an issue that needs to be fixed. Unfortunately it will not be fixed in 10.3 either. I can't comment on the roadmap, but I will post back here in a few months to provide another update. Mav

aaron, If you want more comprehensive Netflow support, I recommend the NTA module. We would like to expand the protocols supports by the Netflow Realtime tool but do not currently have this work scheduled. Sorry I couldn't provide you a more positive answer. Thanks, Mav
-
This KB covers the fields that the NTA collector currently supports.
-
We are currently working with Cisco on getting to the bottom of this. If you would like to open a support ticket and submit a packet capture, that would be helpful. In general, it looks like the problem has more to do with the ingress and egress interface ID fields. See this KB on the fields required by NTA to consume the…

Rakshas, I apologize for the delay in getting back with you. NPM does not currently collect topology information based on CDP data. This is something we are interested in adding in the future (see the What we are working on post). The layer 2 topology job looks at the Bridge-MIB and the layer 3 topology job collects data…
-
MagicChunk and SolarC, please open a support case so we can gather more information on this.
-
NetFort relies on Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). NTA relies on flows generated from the existing network equipment. SolarWinds products do not currently have the ability to do DPI so we don't have access to the same data the NetFort product does. As you can see, they have built a nice integration with Orion.
-
I sent you some links in the previous response. For the switch it's only a few commands. For Windows machines, you'll need to install that other tool to forward the events.
-
Jason, the issue with the watchlist is a known bug. The watchlist shows you the devices connected but does not differentiate between direct and indirect connections. We plan to change this is the future (show the connection icon and give preference to direct connections). Thanks, Mav
-
No worries, I'll take that over a bug any day :-)
-
ekdge, This doesn't really make sense based on how the product works (unless you changed the default polling intervals). I've asked someone from the dev team to chime in on this thread so we can get the right information to see what's going on in your environment. If you own the product, then feel free to open a ticket…

From the above screen, click Performance Monitor and then you should see a page with a graph and a few items being polled. In the upper left, you should see a green + sign, this is for adding new counters. Scroll down until you find the counter for "SolarWinds NetFlow" and you should be good.
