Ok, I looked for this resource and can't find it in Orion or the online help. How does one add a UnDP Table Chart to Orion?
-
I guess I didn't clearly state that we acknowledge the fact that Orion can't collect stats until the string is updated. I think the piece we feel is missing is that Orion doesn't flag this as a problem. In our opinion, this should be some type of failure event. What if the SNMP strings were accidentally changed / deleted /…

DId I ever send this? If not, I'll do it tomorrow.

@jeff - have those templates been developed and can they be shared? I didn't see them on the content exchange.

Can you tell us what SQL bits we should see under Add / Remote programs on the Orion server when Orion is installed on a dedicated server and sql is installed on another dedicated server? I ask because the admin who did to NCM 6.1 install started down the path of the SQL express install unknowingly. We'd like to remove the…

Having just come across the need to mark most of our ports across our border switches as Unplugged, I stumbled upon this thread. So I am going to add my thoughts. We are running NPM 10, which as best as I can tell, has the same functionality as 9.x in this area. When adding a switch, a switch template would be very nice,…

Hmm, this is great info at just the right time. We just had Juniper on site to discuss what they could do for us. Knowing we would need to do tons of customization and / or replace NPM is good to know. From the little bits and pieces I saw about Juniper here on thwack, I always thought they were fully supported. FWIW, we…

Can we get Cisco Switch VTP information added as part of the config backup / inventory?

Vendor:APC Model: Network Managment Card 2 - Model AP9631 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.10 or 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.4 - not sure which is needed Current API OIDs seem to work with this device.

Brandon - Why not have the Custom Properties enumerated from the database and just allow the user to select them? It eliminates typos, eliminates questions on which variable can be used where and is self eplanatory in terms of use. John

Add our name to the vote for this feature.

We would welcome being a tester. Thx!

We take the same approach here. Much easier to troubleshoot one failed product upgrade than 4 or 5. Failures don't happen often, but when they do ....
-
We do not use overlapping scopes at this time.
-
@cmgurley, what filter are you using to weed out the port speed change events? I don't want to use the unpluggable filter if there is a better option.
-
Are you using VMware Virtualization If you are, you don't get any data for the virtual switches.
-
Well then, has any though been put into creating a "Node Health" view that would display things like Fans Status, Temperature Probes Status, Power Supplies Status, Line Voltage, Run Time, etc. Seems like this should be out of the box functionality rather than roll your own. Sorry for being so blunt (pun intended), but for…

I'm with mike driskell and peterlyttle. I'd like to see them marked as something other than reserved and not count against the licensing. We also have a bunch of small subnets and that eats into our license count. It has always bugged me that it worked that way.

Speaking of netconf, any chance it's any further up on the priority list a year later? Would really love to backup my ssl vpn's using NCM.

While I can't directly answer your question, I'd like to share the reason I'd like to see more apps get the AppInsight makeover: IT's all about the presentation of the data. All that data on one page. And the great mini charts - I've been asking for those for 4 years. So please don't limit the reasons to the questions you…

infosat - again I could be wrong here, but I believe your assumption were right before esx 3.x. Since then that is not the case. The old method was "Strict Coscheduling". The doc below describes the situation exactly as you laid it out. http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-4960 More on this here :…

So we have an APC UPS Network Management Card 2 model AP9631. We can't get any of the custom pollers to work properly with it. We've managed to use the MIB browser to get the temperature, but other fields like battery status, input line voltage, etc, seem to be non-existant in the MIB tree. Have the MIBs changed with this…

This is the primary reason (In the places I have worked) that managment always wants to source software / hardware from the same vendor. No blame game. Please keep us updated on the issue, we have a bunch of 4507's ourselves, but haven't needed flow data from them yet.

Along with the Event Manager firewall rules being needed, which we ran into as well, we also found the events weren't being logged anymore on Win2k12r2. We had to enable the following in Group Policy.

Same problem here with 3.2 on a brand new Orion install. Absolutely LOVED deleting all the Windows nodes. And of course the Orion server is in there as a node and we can't delete It for some reason. Lovely!
-
Any word if this fixed the issue? I think we are running into the same / similar problem and we are running 10.4.1.

Having spent over half a day in the UnDP tool, I gotta ask, where do we stand on some of these request from this thread? I'll be posting another thread since I need to get my frustrations out and I don't want to hijack this thread.
-
I recant my agent request for NPM, I actaully want it for APM. Sorry for the confusion (on my part).
-
Oh how my management would be so happy if we could give them the reports they want - with graphs and trend charts.
-
Chris, We agree with you completely. A mix of agent and agentless would be ideal and a great selling point. Agents just tend to work better in our experience and can collect data when the network connection is down, but agentless is good for easy deployment. I hope your idea is correct! John
