Yes, I think we will wait for SAM 6.1.

So I've had many a conversation with Solarwinds about this since my original post here. Juniper supports NetConf, which is an industry sanctioned way of doing things but surprise, one of this bigger guys has been slow to get on board. Anyhow it can all be done via the CLI via the Netconf standard. NETCONF - Wikipedia, the…

We also run NPM server and the SQL 2005 server on two VMware VMs. No issues here. We just updated to NPM 9.5.1 but we are still on W2k3.

I'd like to ask if a PM ever reviewed this. Is there a way to do this now? If not, can we ask it be added as a feature request?

Guys, Some of this (The Entire Page Refresh Issue) is what I tried to convey here: And would like to add that we would live more flexibility in the page layout, not just for a NOC tough. I vote for HTML5 though too. Need it to work on our Windows Phone 7.5 devices OOB.

We will probably set up an alert, as we need to resolve an unmonitored node asap. Auth trapping can get messy. I appreciate all your help and insight. It looks like others on the forum are having similar "unknown' node issues. Hopefully someone from SW will chime in on this. We'd like to know that they are aware of the…

aLTeReGo assuming the PowerShell 2.0 requirement also applies to Windows 2016? Also, have the templates been tested / qualified / updated for Windows 2016?

Sedo, Thanks, that clears it up somewhat. My confusion still comes from the following extension of the "snmp-server enable traps" command which would be "snmp-server enable traps syslog". If "snmp-server enable traps" sends to a trap server, what does adding the "syslog" parameter do - send it to a syslog server? Sorry for…

We just ran into a need for this as well. Did you ever figure anything out? We'd like a report to go with the NPM view too.

So that's really great information which I actually after 5+ years of use didn't actually know. I've lobbied for this in the past but I'll say it again, there really needs to be a tips / tricks / best practices cheat sheet for things like this.
-
So I guess having joined fairly recently, I can't send a PM. We'd like to get access to the RC.
-
Hmm, I think we had (have?) the same issue, but I don't have access to the console right now. I believe it was due to one host having been monitored via SNMP before we moved to the API and the vSphere method. Does that perhaps mirror why your one host shows disk details?
-
ooooops. guess i missed that one. thx!

Donald, We had a specific instance of a power module on a cisco 3560 switch failing. We monitor this right now using NPM and some cisco custom pollers, but none of them monitor hardware failures. Can you be more specific about what to monitor or perhaps share your custom poller ?

Ok, after messing with this for a bit, I still can't get it to work right. All we want is one interface from a firewall to display flow data on the Summary Page. When we try to use the method above, the data is NOT the same data we see when going to the node and then the interface and pulling up the netflow charts. Any…

Any word if this has made it into v10? I just inherited Orion and while the initial "wow" factor was high - based on the web portal visuals - the usability factor is the lowest for any product I've ever used. Since this company is looking at me to evaluate their current solutions, I've got to recommend they look elsewhere…

Oh no. So the ASAs aren't supported? That's bad news for us as well. Time to rethink our IPAM strategy.
-
Is there a good doc on the implications of doing this? For instance, while I'm all for the tool doing the work, I'd really like to know when and if it makes changes in dependencies so that perhaps I can approve or deny those dependencies. I'd hate for something to be missed because it was marked as dependent on the wrong…
-
I think I asked for this in the past, but I'll ask again. There should be a way to "reset" the default details pages that Orion ships with. So after customizing a page, if i screw something up or just want to go back to the default, i should be able to do so at the click of a button. Or at least go back to the previous…

Not sure I follow. In ESX 3.x, if you allocated 2 vcpus, ESX had to have two cores open in order to process the request, regardless of whether both vcpus were waiting. In ESX 4.x, this is not the case. If you have a 2 vcpu system and it asks esx to execute on just one of those vcpus it can do so without waiting for 2 cores…

Put in a feature request here - http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/3422

Where can I send the MIB walk? I do not want to place it on the forum.

fcaron - If you are working on it, that's good enough for me. Thx!

Wow. Old dog learned new trick. Never knew that existed. Sweet! So as you can see in the new screenshot, they each have a custom command line. So to finsh the answer my question - I would simply need to edit the template and apply the command line filter and then add the component to the template three more times. Thank…

As long as it's being considered. Seems more like a bug than a feature, so hopefully it will be addressed quickly.

Is this still an issue with Juniper devices and UDT 3.1? We continue to add both Physical and Unit in UDT to avoid any loss of Layer2 / Layer3 data. Not only does it eat ports but it skews the results for port count reports by 2x. Just want to confirm we can remove physical from UDT without loss of data.

Add us to the list. We use Cisco DHCP for our guest wireless and our satellite location. John

I'd like to see some type of linking of the alert to the object. So when I click on a switch or a switchport or whatever, I can see the alert(s) that are tied to that object. Clicking on the alert would allow me to edit it right from the obect. Right now alerts are not direct linked to the objects they are alerting on and…
