  • In NCM client application, select File > Settings > Node List and change Group By field.
  • Not in 5.0, but we have this as a high priority enhancement request for 5.1.
  • 1. Would there be a problem if we planned to buy NTA (SL500) and integrate it with NPM (SLX) ? Yes. You must buy the NTA for SLX license for it to work on an NPM SLX. NTA is licensed is tied to your NPM installation. 2. Since we the base NPM is in SLX, is it a must that the succeeding modules would be in SLX also? No, this…
  • Can you elaborate on what issues you have seen/heard about with Cirrus on 64-bit OS?
  • I'll let our NCM customers respond with what they typically run on a periodic basis, but I imagine it will vary greatly based on the problems / use-cases your organization trying to address with config management. I will say that nightly config backups and config change reporting are the 2 most common use-cases. NCM makes…
  • Right now, you can set RTCD to trigger based on changes to running or startup config (but not both). You can adjust this setting in File > Settings > Realtime Change Detection > Download Options. I've got the ability to enable notifications on both startup and running in our tracking system. For internal folks, #4079.
  • What version of NCM are you running? In 5.1, we've added the ability to sort by Node Group and custom properties.
  • Good questions. Just a reminder of what we said in the press release announcing the ipMonitor acquisition: “SolarWinds will grow the capabilities of the ipMonitor solution and use technology assets from the acquisition to expand existing products. This world-class product evolution will provide network and IT managers a…
  • My ipMonitor Sensei in development tells me to consider the following approaches: * Create the monitors the way you want them, disable them, then put them in a group (specifically to hold it) and clone them. * Create the monitors the way you want them, disable them, then save them as xml, remove the "id" value and import…
  • Yes, you can change the <ignore> and by clicking on it and you will see a pull-down that allows you to select a Cirrus property to map to...
  • We have done extensive testing with running NPM and NCM on the same server, so running in that configuration is fully supported. As with Cirrus, NCM can also be deployed on a separate server from NPM (the integration will work remotely).
  • Can you go to Admin > NCM settings and ensure that you haven't specified a port in the location of the NCM server? It should just be the IP address.
  • Please open a support ticket on this and include a reference to this post. We'll need to try to reproduce in house to troubleshoot.
  • It appears that the user NCM is using to login doesn't have proper access to perform a show startup, which is why the device is returning invalid command. Have you configured enable access for the user account NCM is using?
  • Hi Jon, I'm not sure why you would be getting this if the packets start transmission. Can you please open up a ticket with support so we can troubleshoot further? FYI, the first thing they will ask for is a sniffer trace, so if you could have one handy that would be very helpful. Thanks,
  • We support terminal servers, but we don't support jump hosts in this manner. We've got this in our roadmap.
  • Since you're running NCM as well, you'll want to backup the ConfigMgmt database as well. If SolarWinds DB manager isn't working, you might try downloading SQL Server Management Studio Express to see if that works any better: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx
  • Can you post the exact series of commands necessary to show the config on the command line? Are there 2 password prompts or are there 3?
  • Hi Lily, that "hint" about removing the checkbox from "Only save configs that have changed" was really an attempt at narrowing down root cause. Config Archive should work regardless if you have the checkbox enabled. Please open a support ticket on this one as we'll want to try to reproduce in house. In the interim, you can…
  • 1. I would love to be able to create applications by ports and then by node IP address(s) or node names. We have a lot of internal web based applications that I would like to create an app. group name for so they are listed separately instead of just lumped all together under http. Also, I have some non-web based apps that…
  • Can you please post your current device template and a sanitized session trace?
  • Toolset doesn't support Windows x64 operating systems at this time, but we are definitely looking at supporting this in a future release. We'd appreciate it if you could post any issues you run into on this forum so we can make sure these are addressed as we test/fix issues on Windows x64 platforms. Thanks!
  • Engineer's Toolset will leave behind any application databases or configurations to ensure users don't lose their data during upgrades or migrations. To remove this data, you can simply delete the installation directory. However, I don't believe this is what you are referring to by "programming components". Can you provide…
  • Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, we've never seen this before and it doesn't appear to be something we can dignose in the forum. Please open a support ticket on this issue and be sure to include the logs in your post.
  • A scheduled purge job is not currently possible, but this is a great idea for enhancement (for internal folks this is #1489). One option you might consider to reduce clutter is to check the option to only save configs that have changed. Wrt/ baseline configurations, can you describe how you using these today in your…
  • Not today, but this is something we're looking at for the future. For internal folks, this is being tracked as #2719
  • Does the series of commands required to login to the device and show the running config change when you switch from local to Radius authentication?
  • Yes. Huawei devices support Netstream which is really just NetFlow. We haven't tested these devices in house due to import restrictions, but we've had customers confirm it works (). You'll need to consult your Huawei admin guide to determine proper steps to export Netstream flows to your Orion NTA collector.
  • It's a little confusing, but the default delay is already 3 seconds. So, by specifying Delay="3" you are actually saying delay for 6 seconds which is probably why this times out. Also, it doesn't look like your RegEx has a capital "Y" as shown in the session trace. Can you try changing it the following: <Command…
  • That is strange. I haven't personally seen this come up before so I would go ahead an open a support ticket on this one. If there are others out their experiencing similar issues with SP2, please speak up!
