Am I right in thinking that thecurrently created NCM user accounts will need to be recreated in adomain style format, i.e. Domain\username instead of just Username? When adding user accounts to NCM, you should be able to browse the domain for Windows accounts and select them. There's nothing else that you have to do on the…

You can use the personalize button at the top right to modify the resources. However, the menu bar is currently unmodifiable unless you wanted to hack the HTML directly.

You can always compare any config against any other config in NCM (even on different devices). However, it sounds like you want a report that ignores certain parameters (e.g. IP addresses) in the comparison and lets you know where it's divergent. This isn't possible today, but this request makes a lot of sense. For…

Glad you asked. I've listed below how we view our priorities as it relates to integration. Please feel free to chime in if you'd like vote to prioritize differently. 1. Node management - ability for NCM nodes to be managed from Orion website "Manage Nodes" interface 2. Job management - ability to manage NCM jobs from…

This is the first time we've seen this issue come up. Please open a ticket with support (and include reference to this post) so we can work with you to diagnose.
-
Yes, we're looking at this for 5.1 because we definitely feel your pain since we have to describe what we need each time.
-
What version of NPM and NTA are you installing? As noted here, NPM 9.5 no longer supports SQL 2000 and thus neither does NTA 3.5. You'll need to move to either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 if this is the case.
-
We can easily change this default configuration for 5.1. Are there others which would prefer that the default for the Compare Configs resource be to select the 2 most recent configurations. Currently, it selects the oldest configuration and the newest configuration by default in the drop-downs.

I've added this to the queue. In the interim, I'd recommend checking out this blog post to see if this helps: Community works! - A simpler way to manage Orion email alerts

There isn't currently, but I'll add it as an enhancement request for this one. If there are others interested in this feature, please speak up to help us prioritize.

Just to clarify, have you already configured your network devices to send configuration change Syslog messages to Kiwi Syslog Server? Or is that what you are asking for help with?
-
This is possible if you have Orion NPM. You can install the NCM integration module on your Orion NPM server and it will respect account node limitations.

I've check with dev and verified there isn't a way to change the Map Resource height through the UI. The default is currently set to 300. You can change this by perfoming the following steps: 1. Open "<install dir>:\SolarWinds\ipMonitor\internal\js\si_webr.js" in Wordpad 2. Find the following line (search for 300): var…

Can you post a session trace of the script execution? File > Settings > Session Tracing to enable. You can find session trace under install directory in session trace folder.

We're exploring the addition of Vista as an eval platform for NCM, but we do not plan to support it in production which is consistent with Orion NPM. However, we do plan to add Windows 2008 support in our next release.
-
We need permissions to access both the database and Windows Scheduler for jobs, which is why we always recommend using Administrator privileges.
-
What use-cases and requirements are you are trying to address? Knowing this will help us understand how best to proceed.
-
Can you post an example of how it's showing in NCM versus how it's showing in native format? I'd like to include this in the feature request. Thanks,

We didn't enhance any additional applications with 64-bit counters, but this is definitely in the roadmap for the releases planned for the second half of this year. If you could provide us a prioritized list of the tools you'd like to see implemented, we'd really appreciate this for our planning. By SNMP v2c, are you most…

Currently, there is not a way to change the default telnet port within Cirrus. This is on our roadmap, but we haven't gotten many requests for this. Are there others out there with a requirement to change the default Telnet or SSH port?

mpsmith2000, Our current TFTP server does not support sizes larger than 32MB. We are releasing a new version of the TFTP server in v9.0 that will provide support for the option negotation between client and server , including tsize, timeout, and blocksize (as described in RFC 2347, 2348, 2349). This will effectively…

Yes, in our preliminary testings, we have experienced compatibility issues with Toolset on Vista. For example, export functions may hang in some of the tools. Our plan is to perform a full regression of Toolset on the Vista OS and provide official support in the next release (planned for Q2 of this year). If possible, I…

Since you're currently running an evaluation build, licensing doesn't matter. I would go ahead and rename the server (leaving NCM installed). Then, download and install the production NCM version on top of it (your data will be preserved) and use your SWID/password to license.

You can drag and drop a config from the file system to the client application. You'll need to select a device in the tree. Then, open up Windows explorer to a text file containing the config and drag and drop onto the target device.

Please see this thread and let me know if that answers your question:

This is not currently possible with ipMonitor. If that type of historical reporting is critical to your organization, you might want to check out Orion instead http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?viewid=119&netobject=

There isn't a group column per se, but you can edit a device or monitor and click "Relations" button at top and it willl tell you all references to this object (groups, what it includes, dependencies, reports, etc.). HTH,

Hi Robert, thanks for the post and very well thought out questions. Please see below for responses to each of your questions. NPM I realise that physical polling engine servers top out around 8000 elements while VMs should be limited to 7000 and that adding more elements can be achieved by installing another auxiliary…

Hi George, thanks for the post. I'll add this to our tracking system. In the interim, you might try adding the column for "Next Run" and sorting on that. I believe it may get you closer to the results you are looking for.

Can you please open a support ticket on this one? This issue is isolated to the Syslog and SNMP Trap Server, so it will not affect core NCM operation but we'd like to investigate further to see why the messages are showing up.
