There may be some peculiarities related to EW configuration on the switch side and how this relates to EW policy info in the MIB. Just to clarify how this all works: 1. Orion NPM continuously polls EW devices to pull latest EW statistics, power levels, and recurrence policy settings across all ports 2. The NCM integration…

This should be possible today by creating a Config Change Report job, selecting the option to compare most recent download against last startup config, and then scheduling it to run after your backup running config job has completed.

Does clicking the refresh button in the tree list have any effect?

Sorry this isn't working for you. I know we've have a number of customers that have gone through the install without issue so this might be an environment issue. It doesn't appear we're making any progress online. Would you please open a support ticket so we can track this and work with you to diagnose this issue? If this…
-
Yep, I've already got that one.
-
No problem. I'm glad to see that you still left mine as an answer. That means Brandon didn't win after all ;-)
-
Sorry about that! It appears we goofed on this one. I checked the case history and we actually closed this based on a workaround being provided to you. Since this is a regression, it should have been pushed to dev. In any case, we'll definitely look at fixing this in our next service release.

Okay, those same credentials should work when connecting to NCM from within the NPM website. Can you ensure that you're including the domain when specifying the credential (e.g. domain\username)? If that doesn't work, I would go ahead and open a ticket with support and reference this thread.

Sorry about that, for some reason I didn't consider the name of the report you specified. We figured it was pointless to have a login information for each device report that doesn't show you the login information. As a workaround, you can modify the Inventory Report to remove the username and password fields or delete the…

Thanks for pointing out the change. That's interesting, we didn't change the template so you might have modified the original CatOS device template in v4 and it got overwritten with the upgrade. I'll open a ticket to get this template updated for the next release. If you're current on maintenance, you should see 5.1 in…

Yes, this made 5.5. The Config Backup job now provides the option to send config changes in a separate (HTML or text) email. Please see 5.5 release notes for other features added: www.solarwinds.com/.../releaseNotes.htm

Based on the session trace, it's definitely logging into via SSH. However, it's not sending any further commands. I was hoping there was something simple that we could change in the device template, but it looks like something else. Can you please open a support ticket on this and include a link to this thread? After…

Is it receiving any templates? One of the issues we've seen is if you don't set the template timeout rate appropriately (i.e. every 1 minute), we won't be able to decode the packets we're receiving. If that isn't the issue, then yes, I'd recommend submitting a ticket and we'll dig into this further.

User Tracking is absolutely on our roadmap. Wrt/ web-based admin, please see this post:

Jeeth, thanks for the use-cases. Are these in priority order? For others watching this thread, do you have any specific use-cases you would add to this list?
-
Our plan is to make custom property editing available in the integration module for NPM. Longer-term, our goal is to move to a common web infrastructure for both products to allow resources like you mentioned above to be put on both NCM views and NPM views.

1) How soon do you guys expect to be ready to release 5.5.1, making the workaround to the two-database system functional for ongoing maintenance? 5.5.1 is currently in testing so we're targeting before the end of this month. 2) How far down the roadmap is one database to rule them all, one database to bind them?…

No problem. Who are you working with? I'd like to ensure they're in the loop w/ our Thwack conversation. We have several customers with 4000-5000 monitors and 500+ servers. We find many of these larger customers are migrating to Orion to get the additional capabilities of distributed scalability, NetFlow traffic analysis,…

Is your prompt custom? It appears based on the session trace that the userid and password are sent and NCM is waiting for a prompt. All it sees is 5509 without a ">" or ":" so it continues to wait for a prompt.
-
I've added this as an enhancement request and it is on our roadmap. It's unlikely to make the next release (v5), but may make the one after that.

Thanks. Sorry for my earlier rambling, I get it now. You might need to chase this down with Cisco TAC and see if they have any recommendations for how to configure traps on those devices. In my experience, this should work: And, as I noted before, as a last resort there's always Syslog ;-) snmp-server enable traps config

If you haven't already, please open a support ticket for this issue. I'd like to get this resolved in a service release if it hasn't already been addressed in the upcoming 9.1 release.

Right, the issues are related to the security model changes Microsoft made in updating to Task Scheduler 2.0 in Vista and Windows 2008. New jobs are created with the ''Run when user is logged on'' option instead of ''Run whether user is logged on or not". Unfortunately, it's not possible to easily change this security…

If you're on the Cirrus 4.x, the database upgrade is taken care of by the NCM 5.0 installer. If you're on 3.x.x, you'll need to get to 4.x before you're ready to upgrade.

Please send me or Brandon an email with your SW ID and we'll hook you up (click on name to view profile and then select Send an Email).

We're actually about to go into beta on dependencies now. Please send me or Brandon Shopp a private email if you are an existing customer on maintenance and would like to participate.

I tried version 9 of Kiwi. I think it was a little more in-depth/complicated than what I really needed. I am constantly building L2L VPN connections on our Cisco ASA, and I use the Syslog Viewer to quickly see what errors are showing on either phase 1 or phase 2 of the connection if there are any. I just type in their peer…

No problem!

Hi Brian, Can you provide the exact steps to reproduce and expected behavior so we can open a defect for you? For example, something like this... 1) Open Cisco Config Downloader for Toolset [specify version number] and set TFTP Root Directory to "d:\work" 2) Run script to archive configs with TFTP Root Directory set to…

Try this one instead: Or you can navigate click on the Content Sharing Zone link in your Thwack navigation menu and select Cirrus Device Templates folder.
