So why does Solarwinds state that you can use APM 3.1 to monitor Windows Event Logs. The only thing that APM does is tell you if the "component" is up or down. There is nothing that I cound find in the Email setup about the actual detail information being added to the body of the email. You can use APM to monitor Windows…

If you want to know if any component within an application goes down then you want to do something like the following... Type of Property to Monitor: APM: Componen Trigger Alert when all of the following apply Application Name is equal to <application name> Application Component status is equal to Down Let me know if this…

Hi, Currently we have NPM but do not have kiwi syslog viewer. I would like to know if other server could query the syslog log file of the database. Since it is not possible that syslog be able to manually dumped to another location. I would also to ask how NPM be able to gather syslog. Was it like other parameter wherein…

Andy Thanks for the clarification, so long as long as I understand what the data represents, that's the important part. = )

SAM doesn't use agents. I realize not all systems are Windows. We are a cloud hosting provider and have many Linux and even some Unix systems that we support and I have been able to get CPU, Disk, and Memory information for those systems just as easily as I can for our Windows systems. In my experience Orion fully supports…

Thanks Byron. But do you know if SW plans on fixing this anytime soon? I don't want to do a bunch of leg work only to find it obsolete in an upcoming release. Well, I am not sure this is something that they consider broken. They have the Unmanage feature which stops monitoring of the node completely. This is stopping just…

I am all over it, I posted it as a feature request in the space for LEM as well as two other feature requests.

This is all exactly what I was looking for, thanks Lukas!

So, I guess my followup question for anybody that might be able to answer it is... How can I detect this in the future so that it doesn't bite me in the back side again?
-
Dang you aLTeReGo and your undeniable logic! Ok I guess I just need to accept I am remembering wrong on this and create a report to check on a regular basis so I can fix these. Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated!
-
Thanks jiri.tomek, this is very helpful. I will send this up the chain and hopefully this will be enough info for us to move forward. I really do appreciate you taking the time to provide this.

You should be able to go directly from 11.5 to the 11.5.2 RC.
-
Is my understanding correct that similar functionality will be available for Linux as well?
-
In the cases were I am seeing this happen I am able to browse the MIB (using MIB Browser from Engineers Toolset installed on my polling engine) and see the process there. Also, I see this happen for both Windows and net-snmp systems.

Thanks, I think I have the information I need at this point.
-
Thanks for getting back to me with these details, it's much appreciated!
-
Casey is correct Awesome, thanks Brandon!

Ah, I found it. I was looking in the Web UI but this part is actually in the Syslog Viewer application that you access from the console.

I agree that 24x7 support is absolutely necessary to offer for an Enterprise software package such as this. I also agree with what some of the others have posted and think that the additional support should be offered as an additional opt-in maintenance contract so that only those that want it have to pay for it. Orion has…

Ah, I see what you are talking about. Yes, it would be good to get clarification on which one is accurate.

Pacetti Thanks again for your prompt response, this information is greatly appreciated!

Alerts 1-4 (referenced above) are the original alerts that come with the system when you install APM, I have not made any modifications to them. Here is a screenshot of alert 5... Some data had to be removed to protect the guilty. = )

I can see how this may be useful but right now I think I like the functionality as it is. To satisfy both the people that would like this new functionality as well as the folks that like the as-is functionality it seems that it might be nice to add a new roll-up option. This will provide this new requeted functionality…

I will definitely keep you posted.

Thanks Pacetti, that was the info I was looking for!

Hi ecarter-- I'll let the Product Managers know about this. Have you spoken with your sales rep/engineer about this as well? M Marie Is this the type of thing that we are generally supposed to bring to the attention of our sales rep? If so I was unaware, for these types of things I always look to Thwack and Support.

You are correct, it is controlled at a global level and is set in the Polling Settings section of the Admin WebUI. You can on an individual node/interface/volume level go and change that by editing the nodes and changing the polling frequency. If you wish to change multiple nodes/interfaces at a time without using a SQL…

These explanations were perfect, thanks Karlo for the fast and very complete responses!

Ticket has been opened, thanks.

Awesome; thanks for that! I was able to find the specific fan in question; however, the API (web browser) shows it as "green" while vCenter still shows it in Warning. That explains why Orion is also showing it as "green", now I just need to figure out why the API isn't matching vCenter.
