Potissimus, Check this post, it should point you in the right direction: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp (follow the link in this post to Don Yonce's post). I have not created a 95th percentile report myself, perhaps someone else has - Rossw ? I know others are using Crystal Reports to get the info they need. -=Cheers=-…

You must make a custom query in Report Writer to do this. One thing to watch out for, is the interface collection interval changes, according to how long you keep the detailed stats, before rolling them into hourly stats & then daily stats. Please see these posts for more details: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp…

Ralf is correct, if you want a custom report page, then you have to create one: Create a custom view called Reports Page, then add this view to the menu bar: your-orion-server/.../View.asp The report scheduler grabs a snap shot of the URL you point it to, and e-mails it to any address or prints it to a printer (or file?).…

My alerts stopped functioning yesterday for the first time. I could telnet to port 25 of the mail server, but when testing alerts, none where being received, not even Windows Net message popups. I checked the running processes and found "OrionAlertEngine.exe". I could not stop this process, but was able to use the M$…

There is a Report Scheduler tool but it is an add-on only available for customers with a maintenance contract. It takes a snapshot of a report (URL) on the Orion webpage and e-mails it out on whatever schedule you specify. -=Cheers=- NG

If you moved the Netperfmon Polling Engine to a different server then have a look at this: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG

Ok Leo² Try this... (I'm no SQL guru, but this might do it for you). You will have to create a Custom SQL query to do this. One place to start is this post from Don Yonce; www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp Use the Report Writer and create a new "Historical - Availability" report from scratch. (this report is NOT going to…

quote:Originally posted by Rob Anybody know a way of doing this but also passing the login information? Do you have the "directlink" account created/enabled in the account manager? It should allow you to access just the link. To drill down though, you will need to use some kind off pass-thru authentication. The admin guide…

That's not the point.... Easier said than done. When you have a whole COrporate Enterprise data center running on 3 - 6513's running CatOS, it's not so simple scheduling down time. Wouldn't it be easier to just upgrade the Monitoring software to support this? -=Cheers=- NG

I actually sent this request to Solarwinds Support back in March 2003. I then sent this to Don a year ago - on his request; I did a MIB walk on one of our Cisco6509 CatOS switches last night. Here are the results for the PortName MIB we would like Orion to put in the database: MIB OID Name Value…

Yes, you can add a bandwidth line to any graph using the Custom Property editor. Check out this months newsletter on how to do this: www.solarwinds.net/.../November_06.html quote:Adding SLA Chart Annotations to Orion Traffic Charts Add a custom property called “SLA” to interfaces and then set the value of “SLA” for each…

This is directly from the Admin Guide - under Custom Menu bars. Do not delete the Admin option from the Admin Menu Bar. If you do you will only be able to access Admin functions by logging in as Admin then entering YourOrionURL/.../Admin in the Address field. -=Cheers=- NG

See the following topic: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp I did try it on a Blackberry 7510 with color screen, but graphics are too small, frames are displayed top down, not side by side and the bandwidth was too low to load the graphics in a reasonable amount of time. It does load in a reasonable time when selecting the…

Hey Techguy, Have a look at these old posts: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG

Check this page: www.solarwinds.net/.../Transfer.htm The unique multi-threaded collection engine developed by SolarWinds is so efficient it adds almost no overhead to your network. In fact the the total traffic generated by the Orion NPM to monitor and collect statistics on a network of 1,000 is only 20.1 kbps in added…

You need to create a customized view in the web admin page, and either add this view to one of your existing pages, or create a new Menubar item called Reports with this view included. I have created a reports view with 3 columns, Utilization reports, Availability Reports and Inventory reports. -=Cheers=- NG

It's possible that it does not support upgrading directly from V7.8.5 You might have to restore your old V7.8.5 server install & upgrade to 8.1.

TFTP is limited to 32Mb file transfers by virtue of the 512byte packet size using a 64k block size in RFC 1350. There are however some TFTP server programs that can transfer more data by using a larger packet size. http://tftpd32.jounin.net/ -=Cheers=- NG

Evans, You can do this query with SQL Enterprise Manager. A fellow Forum member - Ross posted the query recently in this post: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG

I've not seen any further posts on this from forum members, but the SW gang is promising great new things for the alerting engine in V8. Let's hope this is one of them. -=Cheers=- NG

Robert, I currently poll all my interfaces for utilization every 15 minutes. If you are polling a very large number of interfaces, I think 5 minute intervals would add a lot of extra load to your server and switches. At 15 minute polling intervals, you don't get any spurious/intermittent data transfers setting of the…

Set the polling interval for that specific interface to 5 minutes. -=Cheers=- NG

I've never been successful getting the pass-thru authentication working when using a DNS alias, every since Version 6. It prompts me for a local username & password instead. I have to use the unqualified name of the windows server in order for pass-thru to work. As per this post - make sure your alias is not being sent…

I suggested the same thing over a year ago, when we first deployed Orion 5. Being able to monitor TCP & UDP services on devices would greatly increase the marketing potential of this product. We currently use Big Brother to monitor services on servers, and would drop it in a second, if it was incorporated into Orion. (I…

Welcome to the world of Solarwinds Ryan! The Solarwinds Toolset app will assist you in troubleshooting the links, routers & switches. It is mainly a management tool. The Orion app is good for historical stats(trending)& baselining your network. It is mainly a reporting tool. Both the Toolsets & Orion will track the link…

RossW has gratiously shared his SQL report for Interface Availability on this forum for all to use. See this Post: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG

If you have Solarwinds Engineering Edition you can poll any MIB with the Custom MIB Polling/Graphing app. I beleive it will also write the data to a .csv or .txt file. You'd be better off getting a product designed to this right out of the box, such as Crannog Software's Response Watch for an Enterprise Network;…

What OS are you running? What version of Orion? Did you install via an RDP session into the server or directly at the console? Does your account have admins rights on the server? See this post - www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp I suggest you re-run the install & setup wizard from the console. Call Solarwinds support if…
