I'm wondering if you got the temp key for the Orion but not NetFlow. If you manually start the "NetFlow Settings" application, are you prompted to enter a key? Thanks, Josh Stephens SolarWinds R&D

This feature isn't available within Orion's current alert engine. However, we are currently working on a new alert engine for Orion and this capability is in the new engine. We are hoping to begin beta testing for this new alert engine within the next 4-6 weeks. We'll post the beta here on the forum so that anyone who…

Francis, I'm wondering if this slowdown could be due to a setting or change within the website. Question - if you disable the "Toolset Integration" for the account in question, does it help the performance of the website? HTH, Josh

Jkeberle, With regards to your feature requests: The Application Monitor Management Pack is an add-on for Orion that monitors windows services/processes via SNMP. This is available today. Additionally, we are working to add the ability to monitor network services (web sites, SQL, etc...) and to monitor via WMI to Orion. I…

WM, Yes, SolarWinds offers training on Orion. This is a relatively new development and this information is just now being placed on our website. We offer training in two locations. In the US, training is offered at our Dallas, Texas training facility. In the UK, training is offered at the Luton, UK facility. In both cases…

In most cases, a 5 CAL license pack will be sufficient for Orion implementations. Orion web users do not need CAL licenses because they are connecting to a web engine that in turn access the SQL Server. However, if you are running other applications that access the databse directly from multiple locations (Database…

Yes, SolarWinds can offer training in the APAC region. Depending upon the class size, we offer a package where the instructor brings the class to you and delivers it at your location. If you are interest, please drop me an e-mail and I'll get you some more information. Thank you, Josh Stephens SolarWinds.Net…

Yes, there's an easy way to do this. If you login to the Customer Area of the SolarWinds.Net website and then choose "Additional Components" for Orion you'll find a Database Migration tool. This tool will migrate the data from your Engineer's Edition database to your Orion database. Have a good weekend Josh Stephens…

Vic, Our goal would be to make the application as flexible as possible. We're looking for the MIBs and statistcis that people want to use so that we can test our methodologies against these requirements. HTH, Josh Stephens SolarWinds.Net

Cirrus currently pulls the Cisco chasis IDs. To enable this feature, you have to go into the settings and enable the chasis ID collection. We are looking to also add this feature to Orion, in a few different flavors. More information should available about this soon. Thanks, Josh Stephens SolarWinds.Net

What MIBs are you hoping to import into Orion? Specifically, we're looking for information on: 1. Types of devices that you want to monitor 2. Stats that you want to collect/monitor 3. OIDs that you're trying to collect from Thanks, Josh Stephens SolarWinds.Net

There is a Beta Release of the Orion NPM SLX Version 7.3 at: ftp.solarwinds.net/.../SolarWinds-NetPerfMon-V7-SLX.exe Version 7.3 includes changes that should minimize the false positives that you are seeing. Please send any feedback on this beta release to support@solarwinds.net

Caleb, There are a couple of ways to do this. First, if they are truly logical volumes that you want to monitor, then you may not need to use the custom MIB Poller at all. If you right-click on the device and choose "List Resources" to the volumes that you want to monitor show up there? If so, you can select them for…

The Wireless Networks and Application Monitor Management Packs have now officially released and the pricing and details are on the SolarWinds.Net website. In a nutshell, $1,495 for the Application Monitor and $2,495 for the Wireless Networks. We're looking into adding some rogue detection capabilities but I don't have…

Just a head-up. Looks like the Cisco 1200 WAPs with G radios don't report signal quality for wireless clients. This is odd as the WAPs with B radios do and the other vendors' WAPs that we've tested do. If any of you are using these WAPs and want to monitor client signal quality you might consider opening a case with the…

Here's a short description of each of the 3 management packs that are getting close to release: Wireless Networks - used for monitoring Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and the clients connected to them. Will give you stats like signal strenth, signal quality, connected clients, client online times, client traffic, and etc...…

Hello SW4141, I'm very glad to hear that you're a big fan of Orion but I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the NetFlow product and that you haven't gotten the answers that you need from tech support. We've had a bit of an ice storm in Tulsa and since most of of the Tier 2/3 guys are in Tulsa this week, they…

We're working on Orion v8 now and we should be able to release a date for the beta testing to begin with a few weeks. Additionally, we're working on a roadmap that we can publish within the user community. As for Duke Nukem, it always kind of made me dizzy. I'm more of a Doom/Quake guy... Thanks, Josh Stephens…

Dierick, You can setup your alerts to do what you describe without configuring alert suppression. Just be sure that when you build the alert for the interfaces that you alert only when they are in a "down" state. If the node is down the interfaces will enter an "unknown" state and should not trigger your alert. HTH, Josh

Larry is right - on some code levels you can set it up on the ingress and egress. Depends on the IOS version... Thanks, Josh Stephens SolarWinds R&D
