Hi Zak, I'm afraid it's a little trickier than that, since there's close to 5000 servers. Also, NPM already knows what is virtual if you're monitoring the vm's hypervisor. There is a void in the db which makes it almost impossible to do selective reporting on physical or virtual. If you could just sort physical from…

Can you access http://k3013mgm025sola/Orion/SummaryView.aspx ? Seems like there's an incompatibility between the version of NCM you've got installed and the install location for the NCM WEB. A quick fix may be to unistall NCM components from the main server. I say this because i'm not sure that sort of integration is…

Virtualization Manager v6 has been released and still no ability to change the date format. Has this been pushed to low priority?

Hi there, Thanks for the input. I really do hope to see this functionality being added in the coming release. Deltona

Thanks, Works out great! Now if we could get that as a native option in a resource with percent bar/graphics then it would totally rock! Also, something that has been discussed extensively in previous discussions: the ability to group the Nodes in the Top XX resource by Custom Property. We have close to 2000 nodes that we…

Excellent, thanks guys!

Hi, This does not make sense. In NPM the polling interval for the ASA is set to the default 120 sec status polling and 10 minutes statistics polling. There is no field in the ASA node properties page that refers to ASA polling interval and yet, polling of the ASA is occurring every minute. When can this be changed?
-
Easiest way would be to create a custom property to the nodes specifying whether they're physical, virtual or other. Run a report including custom property field. If that's too complicated, have a go at this :) Hardware Field found on Node Details, its output is not directly stored in DB, its generated on the fly and its…

It varies. Sometimes just one, other times 15-20ish. When a site gets revamped, that's when 50+ nodes could get added/replaced in a day.

Hi Jeff, Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue? I have a cluster that is crashing whenever configuration collection begins - no fun! Could it be a Microsoft WMI related issue on the host itself?
-
Excellent! I just need one more thing, if possible. Null0 ports are by default 10Gig, is there any way to filter these out?

Something is wrong indeed but not likely with the software. I think it would be best for you to ask your director to approve having a SolarWinds specialist assess the platform, servers, setup et al and implement changes to make it work as it should. If you can't invest in finding and fixing problems then you'll likely run…

I understand where you're coming from what with approval process etc. I would still suggest you apply the hotfixes whenever possible, before upgrading hardware. Most the issues pointed out by the support rep are addressed when applying NPM 11.5.2 Hotfix 3 and Orion Platform 2015.1.2 Hotfix 6 Defragmenting database can be…

Sorry my bad. This report works just fine, I have misread the report name. It is the Wireless Session History custom report that couldn't be converted. I've recreated it and it works ok now. Thanks

Just for the record, the primary poling engine alone can poll as many elements as an additional polling engine ie: 12.000 elements. Therefore, if you're only going to be using 8 of the 9 polling engines then you'll end up with a polling capacity of 96,000 elements total, not 120,000. You will only be able to reach 120,000…

MS SQL Express 2008 installation issue during eval install
-
Michal, I hope you can confirm the issue of monitoring a DHCP server that is currently assigned to an additional polling engine. Really need to get some attention to this a.s.a.p...
-
Spoke to soon. On closer inspection, the nodes whose CP is Service 2 are not listed!
-
Andy, "When you install the additional polling wizard the assignment to the main poller is done in the installer before CW is run" Although this seems logically sound, this is not the way it is done. The polling engine checker or (where you type in the IP/Hostname of the primary server and login credentials) is only there…

If your custom views are based on custom properties then "all" you'd have to do is add custom properties to the nodes and or interfaces to the newly added nodes. Once that is done, custom views - presuming they are the same on both systems - will show the same details. If the custom views are not the same then you'd have…

Hi, Thanks for pointing this out. I thought we were using TCP/IP by default since we are connecting to the SQL server using IP address instead of hostname/FQDN. I had to confirm after reading your post. I executed the SQL query that Jeremy posted and everything is listed as TCP under net_transport. I then followed your…

The closest I can get to displaying the ID is by using a Custom Table but you can't include results from the Custom Table into a custom URL. The new variable doesn't work either ${N=OrionGroup; M=GroupID} It doesn't look like its possible...

32GB should be enough considering the type and amount of queries that will be targeting the SQL server. If you were monitoring and managing upwards of 10k elements then you might need more, but that also depends on how fast the underlying storage is. Furthermore, your NTA data will have to be moved to a dedicated Flow…

Hi, Is the Custom Property referenced here a Node Custom Property or an Alert Custom Property. I haven't had any luck with any of the two.
-
Those look like interface counters (if), not flow...
-
I ran sythentic transactions against the front end before during and after monitoring the counters. Here are the results: More to follow. Will look at the queries next. EDIT: The numbers seemed unusually low. It turns out the front end is using ASP.NET v4. Need to rerun tests.
-
Thanks, I'll create some jobs to monitor and trend these counters. Will get back with my findings once done.

You will need to find the right WBEM provider for your server model(s) and install them. I'm not quite sure whether you'll get Hardware Health through SNMP or not since the WBEM provider uses the CIM service. In that case, after installing make sure that the CIM server service and Firewall rule in the ESXi security…

FYI, it was more complicated in previous versions. The steps back then required you to use a tool called Load Balancer after running Configuration Wizard, to assign your Nodes to the new (new IP) Polling Engine. Since 10.2 that tool has been removed and you can now do it via the web console :) You're welcome.
