Embedded Orion Maps / Orion Maps Status

Hello Thwackers -

Is there a way to have an object link to a custom URL... e.g. put a group on the map and have it link to a different map instead? That or if I put an Orion Map as an object in another Orion Map, have that Orion Maps status icon adjust itself based off the objects in that map?

I've been testing out the functionality of Orion Maps and have discovered a lot. Our goal is to have services and their supporting nodes / applications members of groups that are mapped in an Orion Map. Each service will have their own service map and then their will be a high level service map just showing a status icon of each service.

This brings up a good question... how are Orion Maps status calculated and under the hood is it just a group? E.g. might I consider it as a Mixed-Mode status group or Show best status etc..?

@sum_giais Hopefully I can provide some feedback and answers to your questions below.

A: You can create custom hyperlinks to Images, Shapes, and Text boxes. Currently specifying a unique URL for a managed entity is not possible.

A: It is possible today to nest maps, and maps certainly have a status that will reflect the status of its members... this is similar to an Orion Group. The maps will function as a "mixed status" roll up in this case.

A: A: It is possible today to nest maps, and maps certainly have a status that will reflect the status of its members... this is similar to an Orion Group. The maps will function as a "mixed status" roll up in this case. You cannot currently adjust maps to reflect best or worst status roll up... simply set at mixed.

Thanks @jblankjblank, I'm curious if I've stumbled upon an issue in our environment or a potential bug then. Note this is on our DEV environment only running NPM 2020.2.6... I will attempt upgrading it to 2020.2.6 HF1 as that was recently released for kicks.

The maps I'm embedding inside another map contain groups that are in warning state and in theory the map should show a warning status then.

So to clarify, you have a MAP, that has other Maps in it, that have groups in them, containing other managed entities?

Correct, there's 1 UP node in the 'SubService2' group, and 5 UP / 2 down nodes in the 'SubService1' group.

The Service Map has the 'Service1' Orion Map in it, and the 'Service1' Orion map has a single 'Service1' group mapped in it that's warning state right now.

Interestingly enough I added the 2 down nodes and the status has updated appropriately so it does appear to be an issue with groups rolling up their status in Orion Maps.

I just kicked off the upgrade so I'll report back after that's complete and see if this changes.
