How to use a barcode scanner with this product? Anyone?

Hi All,

I am really trying to find out just how to use a barcode scanner with this product to do a few things.

Easily add assests into the data base.

Use the barcode scanner to check in and check out assets

track assests as to where they are located

I would like to be able to track the entire life of an asset from purchase to EOL and replacement but I am having a hard time justifying this product if it is not easy to use in scanning in items to the database.

I was informed this could be done but has anyone actually done this?

Do you need to use a third party product to make this work?

How do you get it to work?

We use scanners for our inventory, with tablets for our techs.

Just make sure the scanner is set as a keyboard input device and that it has a carriage return set to hit enter when you scan an item so that it automatically searches.

As for adding inventory your're better off downloading the template from imports to a .csv scanning your relevant fields (barcodes, SN, mac's) and doing a bulk import as the UI isn't very flexible when it comes to bulk work.
