Migrating from Windows 2008r2 to VMware appliance

We are currently running 11.2.0 - Build #11.2.0.5 on  Windows 2008 r2 using a SQL backend on a separate server. We're looking to migrate to the VMware (CentOS) virtual appliance. We've installed the 12.0.1.25 ESXI image but haven't yet configured it. Can we simply point it to the SQL server database we've been using for the existing installation, or do we have to migrate the database as well? The relevant documentation in the Knowledge Base all seems to assume that one would be migrating to the embedded PostgreSQL database...

You can simply point the existing SQL server during Getting Started Wizard (Database configuration page). Just for the record - if you did some configuration changes in "whd.conf" on Windows Server, you'll have to do the same changes manually on virtual appliance.
