request to fully document the advanced alert functionality

Greetings-

After reading this post: it seemed I would have essentially unlimited flexibility as regards advanced alerts. But, I'm not able to get working what I need working. If the advanced alerts functionality were fully documented, I could look into why it wasn't working. I can make this work in nagios or cacti easily, please don't make me explain to my manager why we spent money on something and lost functionality

Yes, I can configure alerts in the gui no problem. But, the post I referenced shows how to run your own query to define alerts that the gui cannot define. This particular example deals with using count(), but the implication wouldbe that a person could define any alert condition they wanted, provided they could come up with the sql to make it trigger. I'm asking that the AlertDefinitions table be documented, and that the interactions between the software and the table be documented. I obviously wouldn't expect support for any of this, and it would all be "at your own risk, you migh blow up yer software" - I just don't feel like figuring out the docu for mysef, when it surely already exists.
