TRAP Question

Question

I am getting this trap:

snmpTrapEnterprise = MSFT-MIB:server 
experimental.1057.1 = 10.255.2.19 
snmpTrapOID = SNMPv2-MIB:authenticationFailure 
sysUpTime = 2 days 16 hours 19 minutes 22.00 seconds

over and over again, more than 10 per minute. I check my Security Log on this server and there are a few failures but nothing like this. This is a WIN2K3 server. Orion 8.5.1 with the latest patches. Anyone seen this? Have any ideas how to resolve?

Another option if you are getting these from multiple servers or from other nodes like Cisco devices is to just use your trap viewer to create a rule to discard the trap.

In the SNMP settings for the sender of the traps, turn off the authentication option.  In server 2003, the SNMP service, it is on the Security tab in the upper left corner.

in SNMP on the server, unchecked "Send Authenication Trap".
