Does NCM being turned on for servers during Network Discovery?

We had a ton of servers get NCM monitoring turned on, we did not turn it on ourselves. So, we cleaned it up using Node Manager by bulk.

Does NCM get turned on during Network Node Discovery? We have a daily job running now and we think that is the culprit?

Ideas? THoughts? I plan on testing now. There is no where in discovery to turn it on or off.

  • Try checking your NCM profile(s) if set to auto detect it will try to evaluate servers during discovery. We wanted the auto detect, so we just cleared out the server on a regular basis. We also split up our discovery jobs, servers (with no profiles) and network devices are in different jobs.

  • Thanks for the reply. I went into NCM Settings-> Connection Profiles those are set to No for auto detect. I don't think they work on servers. I would like to split them up like you mention. Under NCM Settings -> Advanced Setting -> This is unchecked. Maybe is should be checked. Reads weird.

    Connection Profile Settings
Use auto-detect when assigned connection profile cannot be used for NCM operation

  • Dang, this could be it. This is unchecked. So it may need to be checked.

    Network Discovery Settings
Skip adding nodes to NCM during discovery
