HCO 2022.2 vs Orion Platform 2020.2

Just a quick understanding, what is the difference between Hybrid Cloud Observability Platform 2022.2 vs Orion Platform 2020.2.

What are the major feature differences ? Also I suggest AppOptics and other APM should be enabled with all feature in Evaluation module for a better overview of the product reach and achievability .

Hi tony.johnson,

So if I want to upgrade my Orion platform to SolarWinds platform version 2022.2, can I do it without installing anything extra? Do I need to apply any special license? Version 2022.2 is HCO?

Upgrading from 2020.2.6 to 2022.2 will uninstall Orion and Install the Solarwinds Platform. Your existing commercial licenses will be preserved and you will have no change in product features or functionality.

I've seen/heard mention that the new HCO model has performance improvements due to backend restructuring. Does this apply for HCO only or also for the new SolarWinds Platform from Orion Platform?

In general, platform improvement will be for both modules and HCO. With the new architecture (SolarWinds Platform), its the same code but controlled through licensing, instead of uninstall/reinstall (the Orion Platform way).

There will be some features that are HCO only, like Flexible Licensing in 2022.3.
