I would also recommend that, if you have an active maintenance license on any SolarWinds product, you take the Academy training courses related to the product for which you wish to certify. I've also seen some questions and challenges you've posted here in the Academy space, that the training would assist with. So not just for the certification, but the classes, if you have access, would give you very effective knowledge and skills to use you SolarWinds products on a day to day basis.

When I look the Academy Training courses (Virtual Classrooms) I don't see how can a person pass the exam based on that information. Is there an actual course that contains practice questions and answers (not the actual exam questions) that covers all NPM topics?

The virtual classrooms and product documentations are resources to learn and navigate the NPM product. The NPM exams covers a portion of the product content. The NPM study guide lists those topics covered in the exam. Between the study guide and the product documentation you should be able to study and prepare for the exam. We no longer include sample questions in our study guides.

Tanks Sara. I won't be taking an exam until I see several a large batch of sample questions - I reckon this has to be somewhere between 300 and 500 questions. I am using SolarWinds for more than 10 years but when it comes to terminology used in the exams I have no confidence that I would be able to pass based just on the material provided.

We do not have sample questions. Any third party that says they have SolarWinds sample questions did not get them from us and we do not endorse or guarantee their quality.

Hi Matije_SW_Thwack  all of our courses, training materials and demos are developed in line with the exams. taking the courses and studying the prep guides are the best way to pass the exams.  also, I asked ChrystalT  to put a recommended learning path document on THWACK to guide you by product on what courses would be the most effective not only from a learning perspective but also for the exam. That document is here: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/234/6675.Platform-Learning-Path-_2D00_-New-Customers-6.pdf  For the legacy NPM exam, the NPM training courses along with the Self-Hosted Platform courses will prep you for the exam.

I am following the same documents you shared in your response, as well as other resources, to build my confidence.

However, the NPM Getting Started Guide is incomplete and does not provide sufficient detailed knowledge about the exam and other related topics. For example, please see the questions below, where I have highlighted the answers based on the guide.

In the question shown above, if I have any doubts about the questions or the answers, there is no reference link or material to authenticate the answer, which may cause uncertainty for anyone. I also have some doubts about the question and answer mentioned above.

I hope I have explained my concern clearly.

The NPM exam is an old product exam that we are no longer updating. The product itself was updated more frequently than the exam. You will want to review the historical product documentation guides. https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/npm/content/previous_versions.htm

I noticed that a few questions mentioned in the SCP NPM Study Aid appear to be incorrect based on my understanding, and there is no way to verify or receive a response from the SolarWinds Certification team.

For your reference (FYR), please review the provided URL to investigate further. I attempted to verify and reach out to them, but I did not receive any concrete response.

In my opinion, all study materials available on the SolarWinds portal should be error-free and free from duplicate documents. If any content is wrong, incorrect, or not valid as per recent updates, it should be corrected or removed. As you know, there are numerous documents and different URLs available on the SolarWinds portals.

We encourage candidates to start with the study guide and work through the training tools provided on the SCP program page. This includes product documentation, e-learning, and on demand videos. As we are notified of broken links, we do try to fix them. As mentioned before, the NPM exam is an outdated exam that will be replaced with a SolarWinds Observability exam. The NPM exam has not been updated as often as the product itself. The product documentation lists all changes to the product and is the best source for the NPM product.
