Solarwinds dashboard map showing red lines for under utilization

Quick guess, are you experiencing any packet drops - errors/discards in those links?, you should be able to drill down to the interface level by clicking in the link then look at the right of the screen for details

Just had another look at those interfaces going from the core to access switches, unfortunately I don`t any errors or packet drop or crc`s.  I can`t click on the link itself however on the switch itself I can drill down to all the interface being monitored & I see nothing untoward.   The map does change but the all the red lines will be back at some point, it`s very odd. Appreciate the assistance, thanks !!  

 This is really interesting, i think you should check your figure for the interfaces , what number is defined for the interfaces that they match the yype o the interfaces Igig, 10 gig etc

All the links from the cores to the access are 25G,  I `ve logged a ticket with SolarWinds Support so we'll see what they come back with.  Right now the links have all gone red again ; (  

Agreed with what Antonis said - the Label should change to the angry metric, in this case the reds are all a count not a speed, so it should be a threshold on discards or errors that's caused the flag

Also, I dont think it's possible in solarwinds to have a high-end AND a low-end threshold on the same thing, as in, thresholds go in one direction only. That might be worth a feature request one day, hmm..

Point being though if you've got a high end threshold I dont believe you can have had a low end threshold active like that

Have you enabled history on this map? That could help with isolating the issue. That will also give you time to compare the map against interface data to see if they match (as far as thresholds and the ugly red color). 

Next time you see a red line, click it and look at the right side for the interface details. Looking at your screenshots I'd say it's either errors or discards on the interface breaching the threshold.

Agreed too, but I can`t see what it is that`s creating these discards/errors on the switches. 

I don`t think history is enabled & I wouldn`t know how to enable it
