I am currently alerting on Wireless AP Up/Down. Is there a way, using SWQL perhaps, to get the upstream switch information that the AP is connected to? Currently, all the WAP's are detected through a centralized Wireless Controller. We are a Cisco environment. How can I maybe use UDT to leverage this data in my alert?
Dear Thwack I have tried to fetch list of all those clients along with SSID name, who are connected to an Access point as maximum number of clients for particular time period ie. for one hour or last 24 hours. I have found there are three types tables on SWQL 1. Accesspoint History Table 2. Interface History Table 3.…
We are a Cisco shop and previously had been aware you could utilize the controller as a monitored node, but then be notified of access points going up/down when they register or drop off the controller. While in NPM, I can see the controller, and the thin access points connected to it, but I cannot monitor them (at least…
Release Candidates are fully supported early releases of our products and can be installed in production environments. If you own UDT, you can download the installation packages from customer portal. Should you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to reply to this post or send me e-mail directly. One of the most…
Right now, the "Wireless Thin AP" page does not show the status of the wireless AP. It shows an icon for the status of the wireless controller that owns the AP. This is extremely confusing when trying to troubleshoot Solarwinds alerts for down or offline APs. For example, here's a list of wireless APs, with status icons…
Hi All Having trouble getting the thin AP down alert working consistently (on Cisco 5508 controller). As I understand it, the way it should work is this: when NPM sees that an AP that was previously there has gone, it is marked as down (or unknown?) Next time it polls, if the AP is still missing, it is removed from the…
I have many access points, many of them Ruckus APs, that do not show client information. I know how to fix it for one node; you check the box in list resources that says Wireless Access Point. My problem is that I have SO MANY of them (861 Ruckus's as of last time I checked) that it would be crazy to try and manually check…
Hi All! The SolarWinds User Experience team is looking to talk to anyone who participates in wireless network planning, deployment, or maintenance to see what you think about a wireless heat-mapping feature we are working on. Are Wi-Fi signals the bane of your existence? Even if they aren't quite your mortal enemy, we want…
A quick search of posts didn't return any relevant hits so I'm posing the question: who to believe?. Our Cisco 4402 wifi controller lists a greater number of connected clients per AP than what's displayed in NPM. For example, filtering the connected clients to an AP the controller returns 15 connections with the usual…
According to the NPM Admin guide, if I add my Wifi APs as nodes NPM will magically recognize them as Wireless APs and treat them as such. I have successfully added my Ruckus ZoneDirector and APs as nodes and monitored a couple of interfaces on them (and they are not "unknown"), but nothing ever showed up in the "Wireless…
