Hello, i am relatively new to Solarwinds, especially in a large-scale deployment like the one I am dealing with. I want to understand how effective the maintenance feature is in surprising alerts in connected devices. we recently had an event where a storage array was being worked on and since it was connected to multiple…
Good Morning THWACK Community, I have created several parent child dependencies in Orion. The dependency is working as expected, When the parent goes down all of the child nodes are 'Unreachable' and alerts from these nodes is suppressed. I have an alert that does come out for the parent node but the parent is the only…
Hi all, One thing I'd really like to see in the next version is improvements to the dependencies option, in particular the ability to select multiple children for a parent object without having to create a group for them. In my implementations of NPM our groups are configured on a building basis, in each building there is…
Is there a variable in NPM where I can get the parent node/group name of a node goes that into 'Unreachable' status? I'm trying to add a simple line to our alert emails like this: Parent Node: ${parentNodeName} I know I can do this with a SQL query in SWQL: SELECT Caption FROM Orion.Nodes as n JOIN Orion.Dependencies as d…
Hello all, I have been digging through the discussions hoping to find one similar to mine. No luck! My question is on dependencies and alerts. I have created a Group and added all my dependencies of a location to it. I have made the main router the parent to the child dependencies. When the parent sire router goes down i…
If you don't have groups set up to create dependencies its a little annoying to have to create a tiny group just to put behind one parent node. It would be nice if we could, in the event we can't justify making a group for 2-3 nodes, select multiple nodes as children w/o having to create a group for them, Thanks!
Let's face it; manually creating dependencies to support "root cause" type alerting is a painful and time-consuming task. The data required to "automagically" create dependencies between network objects exists in topo discovery, so why not take the next step and use it to support more intelligent alerting? Competitive…
Network Atlas is cumbersome, but once maps are built, I found them to be very useful. Keeping up with the changes is challenging because of the lack of automation. One feature I’d like to see is a parent/child relationship between maps and/or have the ability to define map status dependencies so a map status is not…
OK, So I have need a little help setting up alerts for my groups/dependencies. I have created groups for each site that has a router as the parent and everything behind it as the children. I have an advanced alert setup for when a group goes down, I get an email. I have another alert setup for when an individual device…
How would I go about suppressing alerts on LWAPs when their location's WAN link goes down? The problem is that the Wireless Controller that the LWAPs are connected to is not always in the same location as the LWAPs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
