Hello team, I have a wierd issue. We run HP switches and I have been removing any ports not monitored or no longer need to be monitored right across the board of 80+ switches. So, on my core switch (HP5412zl version1), I removed sflow fully and disabled it. I re-enabled it, thus clearing all of the sflow information inside…
The HP 2920 series switches are sFlow capable, but due to a firmware issue do not support sFlow while the OOBM (Out-of-Band-Management) port is enabled. It wasn't until a few hours on the phone with HP, them having to test it in their lab, and then calling me the next day that this was discovered. The configuration…
Hi, I recently had a prospect evaluating NTA and was trying to enable sflow on his HP Procurve 4208. Apart from the usual commands (also listed in the Admin Guide), there is one additional step needed to translate physical ports to PVID's needed to enable SFlow on individual ports. Sometimes, a switch will log messages for…
I've got a few hosts on a specific subnet that I want to exclude from display in NTA. Is there a way to do so for all NTA pages, graphs and resources? It's not a matter of disabling sFlow on certain interfaces, since the traffic information is aggregated from a core switch. The traffic is intra-building IP surveillance…
I have run into what would be a show stopper for me using Orion Net Flow. We are installing new Brocade MX switches in all of our facilities. All interfaces on the new Brocade switches are SFlow enabled and forwarding. We use Orion NPM to monitor our entire Enterprise network and all of the Brocade switches are entered…
We installed NTA 3.7 yesterday on our test environment (NPM V10 SP1) and we are noticing that Orion is dropping a lot of the packets being sent from the switches. We are only monitoring the WAN link on the switch and that interface has been added to the test environment but we are only seeing a small percentage of the…
Just wanted to warn others about a potential "gotcha" with HP switches. Only certain HP switches support sFlow. Only certain HP switches support 3 sFlows. (Or more than 1 sFlow) If you have PCM (ProCurve Manager, the HP software for managing switches) it "assigns" the first sFlow collector to itself via SNMP read/write.…
