Do we need to install the SW Agent on any Windows nodes that we want to have logs sent to Orion? Or is there another way to send the logs? Just asking because the SW Agent is dependent on .NET and anytime we update .NET we have to reboot. Thanks, Dave

Hi, I'm trying to see what extra info I can get into an alert for a vmware event, other than just the message. Particularly where a VmDeployedEvent occurs, I want the alert to show the user that triggered the event, as well as the message. I can see the entry details in Log Viewer, but I can't find a variable that pulls in…
Greetings All. In my shop we have started using Log Viewer to capture Windows Events - in particular Security Log events from Active Directory Domain Controllers. I have a requirement to write a few reports using the data from Log Viewer. Found a good post by community member @jvb at this link: Reports Based on Windows…
SolarWinds advises in their documentation that LA can handle 1000 Events processed per second, 3.6 million per hour and up to 90 million per day. However, as far as I can see, there is no way natively in SolarWinds to see how many events, syslogs, traps, etc, you are receiving per second/hour/day. This makes it difficult…
I recently created a rule to automatically create a ServiceNow ticket any time a particular log message is seen. This was created using Log Analyzer which automatically created a corresponding alert. It simply looks for the text 'LINK_DEAD' in any syslog message and is supposed to then trigger an alert and ticket creation.…
Hello THWACKers, I am really struggling to get my trap processing rule to work. I have a particular switch that has two BGP peers which are not established (this is expected) so I only want to alert if the var bind called bgpPeerState is not active for two particular peer IP addresses. I have found a couple of issues,…
I am looking for trap content information in the Orion DB table which contains oraEMNGEventTargetName.1 and oraEMNGEventHostName.1 produced as part of the trap output when a trap is triggered. What table contains this information? When the trap is triggered. Thank You
I have LV successfully creating alert rules and alerts emailing or adding them to last 25 events. My issue is that I'd like a meaningful filtered message. I've used both of these: ${N=SWQL;M=SELECT SUBSTRING('${N=OLM.AlertingMacros;M=OLMAlertMessage.EventMessage}', CHARINDEX('mtrapinfoString =…
We would like to see different retention settings for LA/LV per node, Machine Type, Vendor, or Custom Property instead of a global rule. Identifying and classifying elements that we need a greater or reduced retention period for events would be helpful.
