We use Slack to monitor our services, and this check is spamming the channel every hour with dropped packages. The service is not down, there is just one package that fails to deliver from time to time. So we wish to be able to increase this threshold. Asking customer service, this is not possible - so we were asked to…
Is there a way in NPM to monitor services on a node? We often need to check that a port on a remote host is accepting connections. We do this primarily with vendors that we have VPN connections too. They don't permit 'ICMP Pings" across the tunnel so we want to verify that HTTP is available, or sometimes random ports. It…
I'm putting together a standard change for our organisation that relates to applying an upgrade, and one of the questions I need to address is how to verify that the upgrade was successfully performed. While everyone's deployments are different, and thus the post-upgrade checks, I assume the logs in…
Greetings! We would like to be able to perform a quick check during a defined maintenance window to see if things are back up PRIOR to coming out of the end of the maintenance window. This check wouldn't impact overall availability metrics, but it would allow us to check and see if everything is OK without having to make a…
Hello, Is it possible to authorize the dots (" . ") in the tag names? Something like "foo.bar.foo". Thank you
Is there anyway to include a check box with a custom view? I have a custom SWQL dashboard but my manager wants to be able to filter the view (UP vs NOT UP) with a simple check box. I can sort of provide this function with the search string but check boxes would be preferred. Is this something I could do with the custom…
We know the node is down and is going to fail the SNMP check, but Solarwinds does it anyway. This makes editing down nodes take a very long time, necessitating you stay on the page to click "yes" also. A real pain.
Is it possible to invert the results from a process check? I have many Windows server which do automated reboots via a scheduled task which runs shutdown.exe. Every-so-often the process gets stuck and the server doesn't reboot. So I would like to have a process monitor that reports an error (down) if there is a…
In current version of Serv-U MFT(v15.1) file size is checked on the server side during upload operations. This causes the file to be uploaded to the server as long as the limit on the configuration is reached which increases the traffic on the network. File size should be checked on the client side.
Hi, I've found a couple of very helpful discussions here for general Orion system health checks (Understanding SNMP Polling and Counters and "Health Check for NPM" (dated 2009), but am looking for any other suggestions on a general health check of the Orion NPM system setup. Any advice on checking the health of the…
