Just curious.
Do you expose your web help desk to the internet to allow them to login or do you prefer only having customers using email to create tickets and respond to tickets?

From experience it depends on your customer base.
Quite a few use Apache for the externals and it depends where you host your WHD, again quite a few have gone full cloud so it is based outside the internal network anyhow.
Internal facing customer portal only. Reduces the potential security risk and exposure.

I was more so talking about external clients coming in via the cloud and/or dmz
