Join us as we dig into the tools that power your day, and maybe discover a few new ones along the way. Complete each task, earn your badges and THWACK points, and show off what’s in your toolkit!

NOVEMBER MISSION
Use the mission’s resources to complete the tasks and answer the questions for a chance to win! Answer each question correctly during the week and you'll be entered for a chance to win the weekly prize.

Answer all 20 questions correctly over the course of the month and you'll be entered for a chance to win the grand prize. 150 points are being awarded for each correctly answered question. There are 20 questions, which means you can earn a maximum of 3,000 points for this mission once the points get processed.

Just leaving a note in case there was an unreported issue — the first question was scheduled to be released at 9 AM CT and has not yet. Additionally, the text states that the question will remain open until November 2nd, which was yesterday.

I just came to query the same, 2nd of November was Sunday, and question opened monday. I know i've got a flux capacitor around here somewhere, if only I could find it….

Looks like the points from the last mission haven't been added either. Presume they're just slow as it said on previous mission once mission had closed points would be added. @walshy

With everything related to the missions being mostly manual, we just need to wait a touch longer and we will be rewarded 10-fold. (The previous message is in no way a promise from SolarWinds they will indeed deliver 10X points for not having the mission ready). No puppies were injured creating this message.

Lamp and Backpack. I mean the charging pad is cool, but I have a few of those similar items and that one is bigger so takes up too much space. Something like the typewriter would end up being put together by my daughter and given to her mom. My wife was an English Lit major, teaches now, but wants to write a book or 5. She could type it on the Lego Typewriter LOL.

Just checking to see if there is a ETA for when the questions will be available? On a side note the Backpack looks like the best of the weekly gifts.

Do they still not allow you to group lights into "rooms," if they're not the same model of light?

I cannot answer that, I only have the Kitchen cabinet lights. I used cync bulbs in my living room and bedroom, and Porch Light.

Am not seeing them (current timestamp 11/4/25 ~2:47 pm ET) if they've been made available, perhaps they're not visible to my account? Working on figuring out where to see them. Have done the mission shortcut, that's been completed successfully.

Honestly, this is getting strange. Monthly missions are being shared, and the store link not works, but the points aren’t increasing at all. It feels like something’s broken or being ignored. Are the community admins even aware of what’s happening here? Either fix this issue soon or just pause the whole points system it’s really becoming frustrating.

Looks like the store isn’t coming back anytime soon, it’s been months since the migration was announced, and the portal still isn’t stable.

Honestly, I’ve raised this issue more than anyone else, but most members don’t even talk about it. Some people don’t like hearing the truth. I’ve even messaged the community admins directly, but they never respond about this matter.

FYI - The links to the prizes do not work from the UK - Amazon does not show prizes that cannot be delivered to the UK from a US Amazon account. I think you need to change how you create these links somehow…

I think the links are just to highlight the prizes. AFAIK, SW buy the prize then ship it to you directly, it doesn't come from Amazon or anything.

This was a major change. The last time it wasn't without issues either. I understand there are frustrations, but the reality is once the site is fully operational it will be fantastic. Just hang in there. I am close with several folks there at SolarWinds and they are aware and working the issue. Although they should respond to each comment they are asked, the truth is they have responded to others and are not going to repeat. We are all professionals, and we can search and read the forum like expected. Be patient with them.

I can understand all the issues. We are all in IT and know what can happen, with major or even minor upgrades. I think it would help a lot if SW could give regular updates on the progress. John updated us on Monday, but we have not heard anything since then. Managing expectations is just as important as fixing the isues.

But its not bad either. Juist new, and bumps are to be expected. This change did feel rushed. If you remember they were going to have Thwack offline 30 days during the change and we asked that not to happen, this is the result. We asked for this, in a way. They listened.

Yes, sure do. I have 4 sets, although one of them is a much older version that doesn't connect to the app. I have one set in my girls' old bedroom, one in their new bedroom, and a set of the outdoor lights on the back patio. The newest ones I got a few months ago even work through my WiFi and don't need Bluetooth enabled.

We can only ask so many times before we just give up and remain silent. There is no use beating your head against a wall or shouting into the wind. Hopefully, they are working on it. Repeating it just does no good. Frustrated? Yes. Thinking that talking about it again will do any good? No. Please don't take silence for acceptance. They should understand that every user here is shouting it (internally, if not here in the forum) every second of every day until it is fixed.

@janobi I will be here for you. Make no mistake, I am excited for my points as well. I am on the quest to hit 1 mil and every day with no challenge is another day longer it will take me. I love the Thwack community and all of us is why it's been so good for so long.

They ship direct from Amazon to you. So if you're UK based, and the item isn't available in UK Amazon, you get a "similar product at a similar price" as a replacement prize.

Trust me, I know how frustrating this is. I’ve been wrestling with these issues all day, and to make things trickier, I’m flying solo for the next few weeks while we’re short-staffed.

To be transparent, the problem stems from an older legacy system that we planned to reconnect to the new platform. As we’ve worked through that process, we discovered that a direct reconnection isn’t possible. That’s forced us to redevelop some of the custom functionality from scratch.

The community development team is actively working on solutions, and I’ll share another update after our team meeting on Tuesday.

Here’s a question for everyone: would you prefer I close down this month’s mission temporarily so we can fully fix things? If we do that, I’ll award full points for the month to anyone who answered at least one question, just to make sure it’s fair to everyone.

Jeremy, I want to see you hit that 1 million milestone too, that’s a huge achievement! I’m working on a special award for that and also exploring new ways to earn THWACK points, like hosting events, sharing reviews, and creating videos. More to come on that soon.

Thank you for the reply @John.Summers . Based on teh feedback I have been reading having timely notifications would be good. Unfortunatly all I have been able to do this month is the shortcut. Week one is not actionable for me not many. Its ok by me to close it down and award points. I hope we get comment points as well. 😁

No option to click and take action.

You have my vote to shut down the mission until you can fix it. However, you might want to consider a thread for Thwack information updates, where all the parties here can get notified of things on a defined set cadence.

Additionally, I would include updates for the Missions, Points, and other items you want the subscribers to know. I would focus on getting one thing, then the next. If its just you, then having multiple work streams will never produce much fruit. I'd focus on the lowest hanging fruit and climb the tree until its all picked.

I vote for closing temporarily to fix the issues - I see the same thing that Jeremy does, and the only thing I was able to complete was the shortcut also.

Thank you for providing the detail above John. I completed the Shortcut Steps. However I have not seen any of the questions and I check this site daily, sometimes more than once each day. If the issues cannot be worked out in a reasonable timeframe, remember we have holidays coming up and a lot of PTO, I vote for closing down this month’s mission temporarily so SolarWinds and THWACK can fully fix things.

The links work fine in my little bit of South Wales - which last I checked is still in the UK 🤪- but they do give an ugly box saying something about my location being wrong, but at least I can see the prize suggestion [not that I've ever won anything].

Nuke the mission for the month. Award the points, and draw the prizes for those that completed the shortcut.
