Not until I inherited responsibility of a Solarwinds implementation did I understand how easy it is to have redundant features in monitoring tools. The other challenge in consolidation is to make sure that you're not pigeon-holed into one specific vendor (cough Cisco cough) for the rest of eternity unless your org wants to shed tools in a real quick hurry.
