I have a few reports that report CPU usage in %, but I have a need to report it in raw MHz or GHz. I see some CPU Usage stats that seem to measure this way, but they are all empty. Is there a way to do this in Solarwinds?
Depends on the products, but generally speaking, it is possible. Some systems do not report Hertz, so we are locked by that, but..... sometimes you can also get the "processor" speed and then multiply that with the percentage and go from there.
What products are you using? That'll help inform a report.
Pretty standard stuff. Windows servers and vmware. Some of the VMs are using agents and some are using WMI.
Sorry - I was unclear - which SolarWinds Orion products? (NPM, SAM, VMAN, etc.)
Oh sorry. The only one I really care about for this is SAM. We don't have VMAN. We have other modules but I only really want this particular monitoring for our servers.
Good enough. I'll try and stick to data sources I know are populated by SAM. Might be a bit while I dig around, but I know the data is in there somewhere.
Thank you for the help. Im going to keep digging too.
There's a multi CPU load entity somewhere (can't recall the exact name) that might have the information you want. If not, you could possibly get the processor speed from the inventory and then multiply it by a percentage. Elegant? Maybe not. Functional? Yep.
I think I found it and I feel a little dumb. When I was adding the data series to the report, I searched for anything with CPU in the title and was using those. For some reason, I thought the search box searched all available data series, but it must only search the data series in the chosen Orion object on the left. When I changed from Node to Virtual Machine, I got different results and there appears to be some CPU Usage stats in there that use MHz.
Either that or it did appear in the search results and I just didn't see it.
