I noticed that the Dameware Mini Remote Control packages have not been updated in awhile. I logged on to the SolarWinds portal and a newer version is available for download.
Any idea when version 12.0.4 will be available in the PM catalog?
Thanx!
Still waiting on Google Chrome v59.0.3071.115.
Hi Wayne - we're currently working on updated Dameware packages. They will be in the catalog next week.
Thank you!!!
Hi Steve - this update is now in the catalog. Apologies for the delay.
Will the Dameware packages be available before the end of this week?
The PM WMI provider update seems to only be metadata. Are they being re-released?
Will we ever see a Dameware Mini Remote Control service package? We have updated the client on our machines we use to remote control other workstations, but now the service needs to be upgraded on all workstation clients.
Hi Wayne - Dameware MRC v12.0.4 should appear in your Patch Manager catalog. Can you kick off a synchronization and let me know if it's not appearing? When applying the Dameware MRC updates, make sure you select the appropriate version for your Dameware installation - Centralized or Standard.
Hi All,
We have added support for Wireshark to the Patch Manager catalog. Versions 2.2.1 - 2.2.7 are now available. There are fresh install and upgrade packages available, as well as 32-bit and 64-bit editions.
Please note that it is not possible to install WinPcap via Patch Manager, as WinPcap does not support silent installations. WinPcap will have to be downloaded and installed manually.
Well, the Dameware MRC client version 12.0.4 is working, what I am referring to is the actual Mini Remote Control service deployment. I can download it from SolarWinds, and I can also connect to a workstation and force the service upgrade. I was just wondering if it will be available to deploy via PM.
Apologies for the confusion. The MRC service installers are not included in the Patch Manager catalog, however you could create custom packages in Patch Manager to deploy the msi. Please see here for information on creating packages in Patch Manager.
Thanks for adding wireshark!!!
Jim
Thanx! I was able to successfully create and deploy a package for the Dameware MRC client.
: )
Any idea why a package would successfully install via Windows Update, but when you query the package to see if it is installed, it shows as failed?
Java 8 144 has been published, but after approval, it fails to install. The package shows as 'Not Applicable'. Has anyone else had this problem?
Not yet, i was about to approve it today.
Let me know how it goes if you don't mind.
Worked fine for me, installed it on 8 test machines so far and shows applicable to all our other machines.
Did you push the (Upgrade) version or the stand-alone version?
Java 8u144 worked for me as well. I used the (Upgrade) version.
Just for reference, I did not use the Upgrade version. If anyone else has used the stand-alone version, please let me know your results.
All 3 versions did not work for me and I had strange detection problems with 8u141. I ended up using PDQ deploy instead for 8u144 which worked fine
I pushed the upgrade versions, no issues so far.
I pushed 141 to my test machines with no issues, but deferred pushing it to all since 144 came out so quickly. 144 pushed fine to my test machines.
Love PDQ Deploy and Inventory! And their webinars are hilarious. Gotten excellent support from them so far and even won one of their floppy coasters for one of the webinars.
It seems like the applicability rules with the latest chrome and java packages are screwed up. They work when the software is not present, but not when an earlier version of the software is present. I've had to change these rules and re-publish. You might want to look into fixing these package rules.
Thanx teiresias this is exactly what is happening. I don't deploy the upgrade versions, I only deploy the versions that do not require an earlier version installed. Helps with new builds. Anyway, can you share what you changed?
Like stcain said, I was starting to look at PDQ Deploy as Java and Google Chrome were just not working for me.
In general I looked back at previous update applicability rules for packages that did work to get started, but I changed it a little bit for the chrome one.
Chrome x86 applicability rules( x64 is the same but with x64 for the architecture and use 32 bit registry=false):
If the image is too small to read right click and open it in a new tab.
Java:
I just deleted the Not File exists portion of the Applicability Rules.
same issue here with Java 144. looks like the applicability rules are screwed up for the "non upgrade" version.
Well, I am going to use teiresias post and modify the Java package. I did however test the PDQ Deploy and it worked great. I had to get this out and the Java package kept failing with 'Not Applicable'.
