Enable web access Web helpdesk via internet

Mornin,

I am trying to setup my web help desk to be accessed over the internet and need a little guidance on how to do so. a guide would be nice, starting with how to create a different IP from 127.0.0.1. A step-by-step guide would appreciate if possible.

The Internal IP address of the WHD Server should be forwarded to a fixed external address which you have purchased. How to do this will depend on the Server environment you are using. ie Windows DNS CNAME or Linux DHCP. Anything external to your firewall should use a secure Port over HTTPS rather than HTTP, most will use Port 443. You might need to put in Port Rules on your firewall to pass through traffic inbound & outbound. All this is considered environmental so SW do not supply guides for this.

In addition a certificate should be purchased so external users have a friendly URL like https://support.mycomany.com and that loaded into the keystore.jks file. A good Guide to this can be found here Creating a new keystore to install the SSL Certificate in the WHD
