Permissions needed to create UnDP in web UI

Hello,

I am trying to create a UnDP to monitor OS Version OIDs for some non-cisco devices. I only have access to the Solarwinds web UI. I found in this video (towards the end) that this can be done from the web client, but I do not have the same settings options as in the demonstration video. 

Do I need extra permissions to access the Node and Group Management options? If so, which ones?

Apologies if this is a silly question, I'm new to NPM.

I think you are potentially misunderstanding the terms used. Towards the end of the video you reference they are talking about creating device pollers and that is absolutely done via the Web GUI. Access to those would be via Settings > All Settings [Node & Group Management] > Manage Pollers.

A UnDP (aka universal device poller) is a standalone application that should sit on any of the polling engines. This tool is designed to look at any one specific OID to extract information for the purposes of monitoring, reporting, alerting, etc

In the case of a poller you would assign those to a device or similar series of devices so that when you look at the node details page it shows the actual make, model, OS, etc.

Whereas a UnDP would be utilised to target a specific OID for some end purpose. One example could be targeting the Fortinet HA OID for creating an alert to monitor failovers. Or another example could be to extract serial numbers from Access Points and so on.
