Cisco Switch Power Supply Alert

Has anyone been able to produce an alert for a failed power supply on a Cisco Switch?

I have searched Thwack and found enough information to get this to work on Cisco Routers. However, I am not able to get this to work on Cisco Catalyst Switches. I suspect it is something to do with the Fully Qualified Name Contains "Power Supply" but I don't know. As I am creating this - I notice the Router the Hardware Health Shows "Device Name" whereas on the Switch its Sensor Name...perhaps there is something there.

You might try Power Supply Module instead, if you type power in the box you should get a drop down of what is in your environment

Maybe consider doing this with traps or syslog? I like to get hard failures real-time, not wait for polling. Plus, if I understand correctly, to generate an alert from polling you have to save the data. Saving a gazillion pieces of binary data (up/down) is IMHO worthless. But, you certainly can do it via polling. Depending on the Cisco platform you may need a custom UnDP. Cisco sometimes does wierd things with their MIB's and OID's aren't where Solarwinds expects them to be. Also, the MIB values for "down" may be some numerical ID, such as "2". Need to read the MIB and ensure your logic is using the right data.
