Overview
This article addresses the issue where the customer encounters an error SolarWinds.ApiProxyFactory.TransientApiProxyException when testing SNMP credentials for nodes being managed by another APE.
On the Edit Node Properties page, it will appear as:
"Test Failed. Exception of type 'SolarWinds.ApiProxyFactory.TransientApiProxyException' was thrown."
Another issue could be the Timesync of the server, if you check both SolarWinds Information Service v3 Logs and the Licensing Business Layer logs, you will see the following error:
ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Licensing.Client.WcfLicensingChannelFactory`1 - (null) (null) Channel LicenseServerContract to net.tcp://dn1mtb-sw1:17777/orion/licensing/licenseserver failed: System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: The security timestamp is invalid because its creation time ('2019-11-18T21:12:12.667Z') is in the future. Current time is '2019-11-18T21:07:08.732Z' and allowed clock skew is '00:05:00'.
Cause
- The additional polling engine is not licensed
- Mismatch of products
- DNS\different domain related Issues
- The server is out of time sync, allowed clock skew is '00:05:00'.
Resolution 1
- Open the web-based License Manager (Settings > All Settings > License Manager).
- Activate the license for the additional polling engine.
- Re-run the Configuration Wizard on the affected polling engine.
- Check to see if there is any mismatch of products between the polling engines.

- Adjust the Server Time to match Main Poller and SQL Server within less than 5 minutes, allowed clock skew is '00:05:00'.
