Emails/email notifications failing to send, why?

Hi all,

I am posting with an issue and a couple of questions that I'd very much appreciate being solved. We have several made jobs for "Config Change Comparison" reporting, somewhat like the given template. After the jobs are done running, each one gives out an error stating "Unable to send a notification email to *blank*. Failure sending mail". This contains the pdf report of comparisons between the most recent downloaded config and the latest config for any changes on our devices.

We are in convo with technicians, but the reply times are a bit slow. Our SMTP server under "Manage SMTP Servers" in Settings is configured correctly as I was able to receive a test email. I place those same configurations in the job configuration matching the "Email Server Address", port, and credentials. Yet, no resolution. 

Does anyone have ideas? It'd be much appreciated.

In the Orion.AlertHistory entity in the API, there is a Message Field that looks like this:

Here's the problem: this isn't exactly DEBUG level errors messaging - just the basics.  "It failed because A."

You should open a support request because there's another log that contains more details.

From my past experience as a mail administrator, we used to turn up the SMTP receive logging and filter it only for the IP of the sender and look at any more details.  Similarly, we had to do the same from the sender's side.  Then we compare the two of them and see what's happening.

I think I remember seeing something about PDF attachments in an older version of the platform, but I can't recall specifics.  Long story short, support is going to have the best chance of answering this.
