Palo Alto BGP Routing Status - Universal Device Poller

I'm looking to monitor a few palo alto devices for the status of the BGP routing. I've been working to configure the UDP with MIB 1.3.6.1.4.1.25461.2.1.3.2.0 (which looks to contain what I need according to the palo KB), but each time I attempt to test it - I get a message saying "The OID is not supported."

I'm very new to this platform, so its quite possible that I'm just doing something incorrectly.

Would someone be able to provide some guidance on how I'd be able to get this set up?

Looking up that OID in the Browse MIB Tree you can see it has the lightning bolt icon next to it. This indicates that OID is for an SNMP trap - not something you can poll. Rather it is something the device can generate as a trap message.

I'm not familiar with Palo's to offhand know if there is a way to poll for BGP status.

You can use the Browse MIBs to also see what you can try to pull from the device (pending device support, etc). Some newer models might have MIBs/OIDs that aren't in this list yet as SolarWinds may not have added it to their MIB library.

Additionally, if you go into the SolarWinds install folder (default C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\), there is a tool called snmpwalk.exe

You can run this against the Palo and it will generate a text file of all the OIDs - you can use this to confirm what OIDs the device responds to. If you don't want the whole SNMP structure, you can change the starting OID (e.g. instead of starting at 1. you can start at 1.3.6.1.4.1.25461.

If the OID doesn't appear in the file - generally you won't be able to poll for it.
