PDF Report pages issues

Good morning,

So I am experiencing kind of a weird issue on Orion Platform, NPM, NTA, VMAN: 2020.2.4

I am trying to configure an automated report generation from solarwinds of the current Alarms, however, as usual, something has to go wrong

As you probably expect, the report is with such an amount of entries, that they cannot fit on the same page, which leads to generating more than 1 pages of the same report.

If I generate the report manually, I am getting the different pages(as shown below) and the buttons are interactive. So, all is well here

The issue comes when I try to generate and send the report via email with PDF. The report's buttons are not interactive, so therefore I can see only the first 10 entries.

So far, I've tried messing around with the pdf reader, tried to open the PDF file with different apps and other random things I found online ...

Have anyone of you experienced similar issues? If yes(even if not!), please help me resolve it...

Hi there,

Unfortunately, what you're asking is not going to be possible because the PDF is simply a static image created using the "Print to PDF" function built into the browser.

The best solution to this would be to change the report schedule action to add in the option "Include Report's URL" where it will give you the link to the actual interactive version of the report - you can even do this just by itself to only receive the link in the email and not a static PDF.

You could also limit the report to only the top XX number of returned values in the custom table itself:

Hi Kalin,

It seems the specific widget you are using doesn't support the editing of how many results are returned, which means this will have to be a custom table. Rather than walking you through it, I created a report that contains a custom table object that should allow you to reverse engineer it:

Another approach you may want to try is to create an SWSQL query and then make an SWSQL based report of the results. What exactly are you trying to report on? This will pull the last 200 EVENTS for you. There is also an ALERTS table but it does not show reset messages.

SELECT TOP 200
TOLOCAL(EventTime) AS LocalEventTime, Message, EventType, NetworkNode, NetObjectID
FROM Orion.Events

Order by EventTime DESC

When you create your new report use these options to get started
