NTM Network Scan using an agent

Hi all,

We are phasing out the monitoring of our network with WMI as we recently found during a PEN test that the admin credentials are being left exposed on the devices and as such would be hackers can gain access to a domain admin account.

We will be using the secure agent, this is working well across the test devices and will be rolled out soon enough.

Unfortunately it appears that there is no Agent option within NTM. It means that should I wish to discover windows devices I will need to enter WMI credentials or be happy to just discover them as ICMP.

Any ideas on this one please?

I don't think this is an option, due to the "lets go out there and find what we can see" nature of NTM.

With situations like this, I use a maintenance account which is disabled in AD most of the time, and only enabled when we need it. This mitigates the problem of potential credential leakage, as once the discovery is complete, the account is disabled and therefore is no longer a threat.

That's how I would get around your problem

It was more of an additional scan method really. I am using the tried and tested - go find anything scan but thought it may be an option for known devices.
