How to configure SNMP for Solarwinds in Solaris 11.4?

Hello!

I am a newbie in Solarwinds. I am a Solaris sysadmin and was requested to enable SNMP for Solarwinds to be configured. However, Solar winds team did not provided any specification.

What do I need to do to configure SNMP for Solarwinds in Solaris 11.4?

What I have done is: enble/online the current default SNMP configuration

# svcs -a | grep -i snmp
online 11:24:30 svc:/application/management/net-snmp:default
online 11:24:57 svc:/system/fm/snmp-notify:default

Solaris uses the standard *Nix SNMP agent - NetSNMP and so you need to have this installed a valid snmpd.conf definition, with network allowing UDP 161. From your post it looks like you have the agent installed.

This is the official documentaton, which is not particularly useful - docs.oracle.com/.../gjigk.html

All this in place will mean you can add the server to Orion for monitoring

Thank you for your heads up!

What I did was configure the /etc/net-snmp/snmp/snmpd.conf and added a group called solarwinds so that the Solarwinds admins could work with Solaris server:

rocommunity solarwinds
rwcommunity solarwinds

Then restarted service and worked well:

online 11:36:16 svc:/application/management/net-snmp:default

Hello, it's me again.

Now I need to install SNMP in Solaris 10 10/09 s10s_u8wos_08a SPARC.

I tried following steps in

but binary is no longer available.

Also tried installing sourceforge.net/.../net-snmp-5.8.tar.gz

but no luck at all due to "make" fatal error with subdirs

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `subdirs'
Current working directory /usr/local/src/net-snmp/agent
*** Error code 1
The following command caused the error:
