Additional Polling Engine

Hi,

We have 7 polling engines currently that are categorized subnet wise. We have an additional polling engine as well. Can I use this from any of my 7 consoles or else is this something dedicated only to one console ? Our elements count has breached the recommended threshold in one of our consoles. I'm thinking of balancing the load with an existing APE which I have along with another console. Is this possible ?

Console 1: 9586 elements + APE has 5673 elements

Console 2: 14785 elements

Hi vijaydaniel what do you mean when you say you have 7 polling engines categorized by subnet? Are you talking about separate SolarWinds instances?

If you have multiple SolarWinds NPM Instances running, then I would assume you have multiple NPM licenses. The APE license isn't tied to a particular instance, although you purchased it on a specific SWID, it can be used on any of your instances.

In your scenario, Instance 1 already has 15k elements, which is where the APE is coming in, as it has split the load between the two pollers. For Instance 2 it has 14.7k elements and needs an additional APE for that instance.

If my understanding is wrong and it's all one environment, then you just need to balance the equipment around the polling engines so each engine has less than 12k elements.
