Enrolled interface/nodes/volume exceeds license

Hi Guys,

I wonder if there's already a similar thread about this. If there is, kindly let me know.

We enrolled devices first before we activated the licensed and everything seems to be going fine. As the title says, may I know what happens if the enrolled interface/nodes/volume exceeds the purchased licensed?

If you go over... you will get notified in the banner at the top of Orion. The last items added will have a grey "box" over the green dot of the node! You will not be notified via alerting on those items. They will not be monitored. This has been my personal experience. Generally happens when I add a SQL database server. Orion assigns SQL app insight, which takes 50 license off the top. I remove, and all is better. Good luck!

I see no notification in the banner at the top of orion as of this moment. Would it take some time (ex: after 30 days trial has expired) before i see any notification?

Are you concerned that you might be over your license or do you know that you are and are wondering about the consequences?

As soon as you hit the threshold - you will be notified .. if you are running a trial .. I believe you have unlimited nodes you can add... so yes, you will not see any type of notification until you hit "a" threshold. Again .. .personal experience.

I don't see any notifications anywhere in the homepage. Nodes don't have 'grey box' on the green dot of the node.

This seems to be weird.

Let me push my monitoring over the limit on interfaces (if I can) and I will get back to you! Your issue is definitely in NPM, because SAM uses component monitors not Interface monitors.

You know,,, it is harder than I thought... pushing the "interfaces" over the limit... I don't have enough nodes to do this. Have you called support? I wish I could replicate your problem here in my house... then I could definitely dig into what is happening... I am a reverse engineering freak of nature ... I have to put my hands on it in order to learn and work things out... I am quite frustrated, because I do want to help you, my fellow THWACK member!! Ian, I would be more than happy to call and get feedback from SW on my side ... let me know where you stand ... SW Support is pretty phenomenal, although since I joined the community, I have had less use for them!!! (that is a good thing!!!) Let me know ...

Been a long time..how were you? hope you're doing well..

Still, no banner to notify me and no such grey icon on nodes to tell that I already exceeded the license..seems to be weird. But I did took note of what you've said that certain nodes/interfaces would not be monitored..and yes it did happen.

I extracted an interface traffic report for this certain node and interface and to my surprise, "No data was available"

I did delete some interfaces to match my current license (from 254/100 down to 64/100), run configuration wizard..and waited for polling engine to accumulate data..run the interface traffic report and voila, I was able to get data I needed.
