Feature Request: Unmanage Node - Comment Box

Hiya,

We have a requirement that the Nodes we are unmanaging to have a comments field as to why they were unmanaged.

Was wondering if it would be a good idea to add a comment box to the Unamanage Nodes window.

I suppose a follow on for this would then be the ability to report on when Nodes where unmanaged and the comments that went with these.

Would like to hear some thoughts on this??

In our organisation we have alot of requests from Telecommunications providers regarding outages / hazzard works, this is as you can imagine hard to keep track of, but if we can unmanage the nodes and have a comment for that period of down time and it kept historical that would make life easy

In addition to WHY it would be great to know WHO did it. Our organization has a lot of people with their fingers in the mix and we really need to know WHY it was unmanaged and by WHO.

Hi all...

Interesting that this gets brought back to the forefront, as we were just talking about this very thing today. We've talked about it before and it just hasn't been a priority, but we are now taking a hard look at our operational processes and procedures, and this is one the things that was brought up. Our Ops folks have requested the ability to unmanage devices as necessary, and (to me) part of that is documenting who unmanaged it, when, and why, along with a report or alert to point out devices that have remained unmanaged for an extended period of time. We're already doing something similar with some custom resources in other areas, and will likely be implementing something in this particular area relatively soon.

If we get ours implemented before something is added natively to the product, I'll circle back around and share it with the community.
