Custom MIB Poller (Temperature) for HP servers

FYI: If you want to monitor the temperature of HP Proliant servers and you've installed SNMP and the Compaq Insight Management software. You can create a Custom MIB Poller using OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.6.8.1.4).

cpqHeTemperatureCelsius: This is the current temperature sensor reading in degrees Celsius. MIB value type should be set to Raw Value, and type is set to none.

Unfortunately, you can't yet perform math on the Custom MIB Poller to convert the value to Fahrenheit.

But without get table you will only get the number 1 sensor and that will depend on model (CPU, I/O Board, etc...)

Is there any way for me to determine which sensor it does monitor? I know that when I go into insight manager, it shows me the different thermal points, but I am not sure how to tell which one is which.

Any help is appreciated.

Well a lot has changed since this thread was started, starting with NPM 9.1 GET TABLE support was added and you can now get the entire table of server tempetature. And I believe the first one listed is the one you get from the old GET NEXT oid refered to in the original post.
