How to display text string from custom poller?

I see that this answer has been verified, but I know at least I could benefit from more information concerning this topic. No lightbulb is lighting for me, and the administrators guide doesn't seem to be any help. Could anyone explain the steps taken to generate this type of table? Or point me to a document that could? I would appreciate it! Thanks.

Just add the Universal Device Poller Status Resource to the correct View and any Universal Device Pollers assigned to the node will display there.

BTW Universal Device Poller Status is located under Node Detail Reports
