Acknowledge alerts via email without Alert Central

Is there a way to acknowledge NPM alerts via email without using Alert Central and without having a URL that takes you to the Orion web console? I have off-site engineers that need to acknowledge alerts on their phones without being on our corporate network. The acknowledge URL directs them to our Orion server but it is not exposed to the Internet so they get a 404 error. Is there a way for them to do this?

Couple of pointers:

1. Could you install an Additional Web Server (small license cost) in a DMZ to allow you to direct external links to this safer destination?

2. The use of the RESTFUL API could be leveraged, where you create some sort of proxy system method of firing an API call from a platform to which you can receive a notification. For example you could trigger an API call by using Slack which takes a bot request and generates the API call to Orion web server.
