Aruba Wireless AOS8 support

So, the Wireless Service team here are considering moving to AOS8 -- this is a major product/feature jump with considerable changes in how the AP and controllers communicate

(the contollers form clusters with the APs associated with at least two members in a cluster, the AP will also build dynamic tunnels to the correct controller on a per-associated user basis if the user profile )

Does anyone have Aruba/AOS8 configures with NPM?

Any challenges have with alerting or stats collection I should be aware of?

Not supported natively in npm which means you will have to configure snmp on all your ap's and add them to solarwinds for active monitoring, at the very least use icmp.

When you say not supported natively in NPM do you mean that the AP status flaps up and down on every controller, or that it doesn't display ANY status for the AP at all?

We have roughly 13,000 wireless AP.

if the former case then I was thinking of leveraging external nodes and linking them to the AP status so it generated an alert if it was not up on any controller.

pingable is not really good enough for the AP to be working.

Basically the only supported wireless controller vendors that are supported in solarwinds which allow you to monitor your ap's without adding them are cisco and meraki. Any other endor requires the ap's to be added independently via snmp or icmp if you just want up down status. You will have to add 13.000 ap's to solarwids which will use 13,000 interface licenses if you choose to use snmp. As you probably know npm polling engines only support up to 12,000 interfaces each.

We have our Aruba wireless AP currently monitored using AOS6 under Orion NPM 12.1; I was interested in any change in behavior under AOS8 with clustering enabled

Im not talking about mibs, im talking about the wireless section under dashboards, network, wireless. That is the native support for wireless controllers in npm. Im not talking about individual nodes.

Just curious to know, you are monitoring the Aruba Wireless AP via SNMP? If so, is it giving most of the required metric by default OR requires custom pollers to be setup.
