The unpluggable interface feature is great but I think is still missing a couple of extra bits.
I still see all the UP events of the "unplugged" interfaces.
Where a PC or workstation has been shutdown (not unplugged) and the NIC remains powered up (most new PCs) the switch port changes it's configuration from 100 mb to 10 mb, then from 10 to 100 when powered back up, so there is still a whole lot of other events relating to the up/down status of the interface. The unpluggable feature has only suppressed 1 of the many events from these interfaces.
ie.
User defined Transmit Bandwidth changed (x2)
User defined Receive Bandwidth changed (x2)
Configured Interface Speed changed (x2)
and the UP event
Then there are a number of interfaces I have found that are probably flapping (more bandwidth changes) and may or may not be going up/down.
From reading previous posts I am guessing we will see an improved Last xx Events resource with filtering, but I think you could probably kill off all related events when an interface is "unplugged". I’m also seeing all these events via Traps so we have a double up.
While we are here, I have not found a way to report or view quickly all the ports set to unpluggable. I could create a report that shows ports that are Down and unpluggable but not view Up and unpluggable ports without clicking through to each individual Interface Details / Edit Interface.
