Hi!
I've set up a view in Orion in which I only show specific nodes belonging to a certain group of people. This group have asked if it's possible to show alerts in a more visual way on their view.
As of now this view have a list of all the nodes (All Nodes) with the green/yellow/red dot that shows if the nodes are reachable or not. They also have the "Active Alerts" section added, besides that there are some other fields that are not relevant in this case.
Currently we set rules in Advanced Alert Manager that sends mail/sms when any node belonging to this view go down. We also forward traps that these nodes sent to the people responsible for them. Because this is a big environment it's a lot of mail sent, so they asked me if it's possible to visualize these alerts on their page.
What they would like the most is the ability to change the color of the LED lights in the "All Nodes" list when a device is sending a trap/alarm and also to be able to filter this so only certain traps trigger this. But I've not been able to find a solution for this, it seems like these lights only change color when there is issues reaching the node.
After giving up on this I looked at a way to use the "Active Alerts" for this. My idea was to set up an advanced alert that would match specific traps and make the node appear in this list so they could get an overview of nodes with problems just by looking at this page, then they could click on the nodes that shown active alerts to see more specific information. And when a trap with a cease condition is received the alarm will be removed from this list.
So the TL,DR is simply: Is it possible to make traps appear as alerts somehow in NPM. Either by changing the color of the status LED when SNMP traps are received or list the nodes under Active Alert or something similar. The important thing is that the users only want to look at their "page" or "view" and see which nodes have sent alarms. When a trap is sent that tells us that the alarm is over we want to remove the node from this list. Is this possible to do at all?
Thanks for your input!
