I am trying out Orion NPM 9.5.1, and need to know if the forwarding of syslogs to another syslog server keeps the source infomation intact( RFC 3164 compliance), also does it only forward, or does it also store the syslog messages

See here regarding the first item, we are working to address this now. I believe on the second we store and forward.
