We have a large infrastructure with almost 7000+ servers in Orion. We have NPM 10.5, SAM 5.5.0, NTA 3.9.0 installed. We have total 8 servers including one master and seven Polling servers.Our all servers are right now in Citrix Xen and now we started migrating our Orion servers from Xen to VMware. we are using VMware converter utility to migrate first three servers including the master one, on which we have NPM, NTA and SAM installed. I have confirmed from the Server team and they said host name and IP address will remain be the same after migration from Xen Center to VMware.
Now I just wanted to know what all pre/post migration steps I need to perform once these servers will be migrated to VMware. I am curious about Licensing part because while activating License it asks for the unique machine ID and obviously machine ID will be changed when these servers will be migrated to VMware. Please advise on the query that I have and advise solution for it.
I checked with the server team and they said MAC addresses can be remain same after migration of Orion servers from Xen to Vmware, however I just wanted to know if the MAC address of server will be the same after migrated to VMware, will Unique Machine ID also be same or it will be changed ?
